Treasure Lake, a photo from California, West

Photographer's Note

Treasure lake, a high alpine lake in the eastern sierras of California, is certainly the highest altitude lake I have ever hiked to. This granite precipice is known as the Sierra Crest.
I got an early start in the morning while it was cool outside and climbed from South lake at 9,800 ft. elevation to this lake, 3 miles up a rocky but forested trail to 10,650 ft. elevation. there are actually three small lakes here so it is called the Treasure Lakes area. There is a waterfall that flows into this lake, seen in my photo, but we can't see it because it is behind the trees in the bgo the left.
Trailhead Elevation (South Lake) — 9,800'
Finish Elevation (Main Treasure Lake) — 10,650'
Gain — 850' (283' per mile)

hi karen,
what a fantastic landscape. your viewpoint is excellent with the trees on either side framing the picture nicely. great depth of field and detail. the blue sky is a great contrast with the pale rock formations.

What a amazing landscape. The greent water of the lake contrast so nicely with the bare mountain in the background. Your framing is exellent with adding some foreground interest with the tree.

Hello Karen,
Excellent luminoisty and contrasts, with a beautiful clear blue sky. The trees in the foreground act as effective frame and are well placed. As a minor critique, you might want just a touch more seperation between the mountain top and the top edge of the picture. Nevertheless, a great capture of a beautiful place.

Karen,
I love the high alpine, and this photo reminds me why - little clear lakes, rugged formations, and great views. I like the limited pallet - basically green, blue and gray. Nicely seen and captured.
