Photographer's Note

A view of South Lake seen from the trail that leads to Treasure lake. The trail is combined with the Bishop Pass trail until the first trail junction. Treasure Lakes trail goes to a beautiful, less visited, granite basin surrounded by talis slopes at the foot of Mount Thompson, Mount Goode and Hurd Peak. The trail from South Lake to Treasure Lake is 3 Miles straight up.
Trailhead Elevation (South Lake) — 9,800'
Finish Elevation (Main Treasure Lake) — 10,650'
Gain — 850' (283' per mile)

I got an early start because I prefer to hike when the weather is cool and comfortable. When I arrived at the lake, the Sierra Club was there on a three day backpacking trip. They hike up the trail to the lake free of gear that is delivered by the pack mules from Parchers Resort.

Hello Karen,
very nice the panoramic view of the place with the lake to looks like as a diamond wedge in it.I lke the beauty of the place as the light and colour management of the shot.

Hi Karen,
I really enjoy your photos from California. I have spend there 2-3 years and I loved it. I remember a citation found in a photo book "Everything worth photographing is in California..." Sadly I was there in the pre-digital times. Your gallery well contributes to this image of CA.
Great POV here, fantastic eye catching colors. The lake is a highlight of course.
