Photographer’s Note
This is a pretty simple shot, in terms of composition but it appealed to because of the moody, contrasting light. With the intense fog that is ever-present in the Bay Area, often together with sun, the sky often turns unusual colours.
In PS, I sharpened edges (maybe too much? note the mid-left side... advice please) and saturated slightly (+4) to bring it back to the original film print.

You come up against a challenge that I find a bit baffling myself. The fog can be so dramatic when you experience it first hand, but it doesn't photograph well in closeup. It becomes simply a gray mass, hardly the exciting clouds we see in photos from Belgium and the Netherlands.
I think this image suffers from lack of a focal point, a tree in the distance perhaps. Perhaps had to taken the image from the right edge of the pathway and directed your camera up hill a bit more you'd have found something to attract the eye. Apart from the rich colors in the foreground, there really isn't anything here that delights or intrigues the eye.

I can see what you tried to do here and I like the idea but there are some things to be improved. First of all, like Curtis stated, it would be much better to have something to focus on in the picture (it could also be a tree on the right or left that gives more filling to the picture).
Postprocessing:
as you stated, you may have sharpened the picture a bit too much. But the first thing that came to me when I saw your picture whas the feeling of oversaturation. In your note, I read however that you corrected the saturation with only +4. That I find somewhat strange.
I would say; just play a bit with the postprocessing to see what gives the best natural results. I hope you will not be mad about my critics.

Une très agréable composition Janet, des couleurs qui se marient à la perfection. Bravo.

i think you really sharpened edges too much and i think the others are right about the focal point. but i like very much this picture half on strong light and hal in the fog. it create nice contrast. nice colours too.
