Photographer’s Note
This was taken in Berkeley, California, inside a small cafe. I was spending that day in Berkeley, trying to catch up on my writing backlog. At lunch my daughter joined me. While eating at this cafe, I noticed this potential and snapped. My daughter wasn't too comfortable sitting with her dad who was taking some stranger's photo!

This is a good shot Animesh.. I like the position of her head... just ebtween the two bottles... the niche in the wall is also welcome to create all those lines.. lovely as usual.

haha
well her eye is covered by her hair, so we don't really get an idea of how uncomfortable she is. this is not a critique :) i'm a big big hypocrite, because i'm terribly camera shy and absolutely hate being infront of one.
coming back to the more serious topic :)
this has been very niely taken animesh
even without your daughter as a subject the photograph could have worked quite well, because of the amazing patterns there
the 2 bottles , the plants, the semi circular and the triangular shelevs or whatever else which seem to belong to an entirely different time and the inclusion of the stairs is all quite nice
it's quite mediterranean isn't it?
and ofcourse the profile adds ot the photograph. i think this particular composition needed a profile and not a proper portrait. so in that respect you should thank your daughter for feeling uncomfortable and not happily looking into the camera :)
take care

Hi Animesh,
i dont know what it is there sometimes, but your shots are definitely hitting me somehow... This is so inspring.. this lady's beautiful profile makes a big contribution to the whole image i think. i love those geometrical shapes,,
just lovely..

A good choice the "B&W" option. A geometrical approach and a blur background. I like the position of the woman in the middle of bottom base of this frame.
Excelent work and my congratulations!

little by little i learn (do I?) with your pics to deal with lines, curves, perspective, let the image "breath". if this shot were taken by me, i would for sure crop right above the bottles, but i am glad this image is yours, with these smooth and rich tones of gray, the delightful background.
yes, a class about lines and dof...

I am amazed at how many shapes there are in this, the more I look the more I see. I admire your attention to details, the ones many of us lesser souls would miss if presented with the same situation. Everything Isabelle said goes for me too!

Great composition, expression and tones... Thanks you for sharing! I love those two bottles and the leaves.
