Photographer’s Note
My grandson was playing with snails yesterday afternoon so I thought I would "play" a little too. Never knew what the little "bugger" really looked like up close and personal.
bit of saturation and sharpening

Hello Dan,

Congrats

Hi again Dan!
I've been experimenting lately with close-ups too, and offer you my suggestions based on what I've learned so far:
Careful of your short DOF - the eye stalk that is closer to you is out of focus because it is too near, and the antennae are out of focus because they are too far away.
You'll have to adjust your aperture setting to get the right DOF, then shorten (for bigger apertures) or extend (for smaller apertures) your shutter-speed to accommodate the new aperture setting.
Also, when shooting macros, it's easy to forget what's in, (or not in) the edge of the frame. The snail may have been more photogenic with both his antennae showing. ;-)
Still a great shot though, with rich texture and color. Thanks for sharing!

P.S. The reason you don't see a lot of macros in my gallery is because I haven't produced anything worthy enough to post! Try, try again, has become a motto for me. ;-)
