California Poppy Reserve Photo

Photographer’s Note

Another picture of the Caliifornia Poppy Reserve in California, taken on a windy Good Friday. This picture is looking west toward the snow capped Tehachapi mountains and the California Condor sanctuary. The San Andreas fault zone runs between the foreground hills and the Tehachapis.

The flowers in the forground are Lupines. The ones providing most of the color in the distance are Coreopsis (yellow) and Poppies (orange). Because of the wind the poppies weren't opened up fully and so weren't as spectacular as they could have been.

A very good shot. Nice composition and beautiful colors. Nice place to see.
I'm trying to make growing, in my house, some California Poppy seeds i bought in California in 2000. 3 weeks later, they are going well!

Nice composition, Don. This is classic, with a well defined foreground and background. Your aperature has been perfect for this shot, rendering really good depth of field. Fantastic colors and point of view.

Indeed beautiful,Don!...I can stay here for a long time to see it more and more,it's great for our soul in this time and modern time,I need it and sometimes I scape from the big city of Tehran and go to out and far,drive and drive towards heart of nature,...
it's great for taking a deep breath,Don!

Hi Don,
a 'reserve' for poppies!! Incredible! I suppose that the poppies don't are the reds ones that iìm used to see here in Italy (are they yellow ?)
The landscape is beautiful and with a great light! I like to see the 'snake' of the road going faraway, in the yellow.
The flower in the foreground are perhaps a little bit oversharped, but this is a detail.
Very nice place, and very nice work!
