So I've been getting shots of the full moon every month for the last six months. It always takes me by surprise and I'm never in quite the right place; especially for the moonrise.

Last month, I entered the days when the moon would rise/set close to sunset/sunrise in my organizer. Since we live at the beach, the moon always rises over a tangle of street lights and wire; yesterday afternoon we headed eastward into the mountains. I thought I wouldn't get much of a shot since I could barely see the moon through the clouds, but as we rose in elevation, the moon became more clear and suddenly the last rays of daylight lit up this mountain.

Tomorrow I'll post the Moon Set I got this morning.

Hi Pat,
Fantastic scene! And a good proof to that the best shots are worth some hunting. Everything looks right. The moon is not overexposed, thin layer of clouds makes the sky interesting. And mountain background is burning on sunset.
Kari

Great shot Pat and very good planning. The light on the mountain is perfect and there is enough detail in the sky to be interesting. I look forward to moonset tomorrow.
Kath

A wonderful scene with the moon placed off-centre and fabulous lighting. Very atmospheric work Pat.
Best wishes
Mark
PS I can't remember if I've wished you a happy new year yet, so HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Better twice than never!

Hi Pat,
Beautiful composition, with a very well organized setting, where the mountains with the pink tones of the sunset seem to adore to this moon that is the great protagonist of your work. Caught well, with an excellent lighting, I like the effect that they creates the thin clouds in the still blue sky but already getting dark.
Nice shot.
Regards,
Josep

Boa tarde Pat,
Did you go on purpose to see the moonrise over the mountains?
That's not only romantic, but also a good way to get an outstanding photo like this.

I remember this placename, Alpine; I didn't stop there but I noticed there was no snow, despite the name recalls the famous European mountains.
Regards,
Francisco

Hello Pat,
I photographed the moon myself not long ago... again! However mine never comes out this well...
Amazing to see the last rays from the setting sun colouring the montains in the back as the moon is rising...
A lovely composition with wonderful colours!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Pat,
Excellent night time shot with a beautiful blue red sky. Beautiful color to the barren hillside.

Hello Patricia.

Happy new year to you, I haven't checked you gallery for a while...about time I did so!

This is truly a very powerful setting, I noticed that same day that we hada very bright moon in the middle of the day. Pity it was raining.
This photo with the great contrast between the pale moon and the very warm colours of the mountains in the background makes a very powerful impression.
The colours are very natural and my overall impression is very good.

Hi Patricia. I see a D200 being listed and I don't remember you having one before. Is that new or is that old news? We can actually make out the details of the moon! You got a great effect with the clouds and moon. Awesome shot Patricia!

Happy New Year to you.

Hi Pat,
Wonderful composition, beautiful colors and good light. Well done.
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Pat
Glorious shot...you know inspired by your ealier shots of the moon I snapped a few shots myself of the full moon the other day...maybe I'll post them sometime. The colours of the sunset on the mountains with that deep red contrast with the bright moon. I love this
