Photographer’s Note
Alameda is an island just offshore of Oakland in the San Francisco Bay. Alameda the city, established in the 1800’s, still retains the ambiance of a small Midwestern town and has more Victorian-style homes per capita than any other place in the United States. Part of its heritage is an Independence Day parade every July 4th. It is the largest such parade in California and the second longest in the U.S. yet it, like the town itself, retains a local small-town feel. This image of a Cub Scout on his decorated bicycle taking part in the parade captures, I think, that sentiment nicely.
Happy Independence Day to my fellow Americans.

Very cute an patriotic photo. The kid is sweet it is very apparent that he is very proud of himself. It's good to see him against the bigger bikes. I only wish that his foot wasn't a bit cut off.
Alameda is a great place, we're actually considering moving there in the near future.

What a nice way to celebrate the 4th, Cub Scout uniform and all. He's certainly decorated his bike with care! I do like this candid, quickly captured moment. Yes, ideally his foot would have been all the way in the photo, but the moment is there and we get what we can. You did well.
Regards,
Lois
