A view from Grandview Point on the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA. Storm clouds gathering in the distance, this sad skeleton clings to the canyon's edge. Probably struck by lightning this is one of many sad dead trees that pepper the beautiful and picturesque landscape.

The depth-of-field is astonishingly good, complemented by the rich colors in this image from the Grand Canyon. The tree does appear to have been struck by lightning. How these trees flourish in such inaccessible and inhospitable settings is remarkable. I haven't been there in many years, but I realize how we all tend to take our own neighborhood for granted.

Love this your series! The color combination from the warm golden tones of the foreground to the cold grey of the background truly impressed me. Beautifully cropped view. Thanks for sharing.

You found an interesting foreground to make us discover the majesty of the Grand Canyon, fantastic colors and sharpness.

The great protagonist; the tree does not hide the impressive panorama. Crystal clear image, as always. Have a good day Brian!

Un endroit merveilleux de l'Arizona, l'arbre mort laisse un très bel aperçu sur le paysage, des couleurs et un contraste d'ombre et de lumière magnifique

The dead tree (probably struck by lightning years ago) adds a fine graphic element to this spectacular view. Subtle warm cold color contrasts between the yellow ochre tinted rock in the fg & the purple blue shadows in the valley. Good sharpness & high pov. Tfs!

The use of the tree to dominate the f/g is excellent; not only does it interest, with its spiky, almost ominous shape but it also produces a great sense of depth from its f/g position to the distant cliffs. Excellent dof and, as always, beautifully saturated.
My warm regards,

Une image magnifique qui nous montre un paysage hors du commun et une superbe perspective.Cet arbre mort, que tu as judicieusement placé,ne gâche en rien la vue.

Another of your fine captures of the wonderful scenerey of the Grand Canyon!
I shall never tire of looking at your pictures of this place but this one, I think, is particularly special because of the bright sunlight on the mid-ground which is in quite marked contrast to the lower light in the distance and the rather dark and moody sky. The naked dead tree makes a perfect foreground feature too, so much in keeping with this arid landscape.
npecanhuk (56368) 2012-02-17 10:24
Very beautiful picture of that wonderful place!
Chosen pov, vertical format, white borders, colors, exposure, sharpness and composition are all excellent here too!
TFS - congrats,
Have a great week-end,

very creative composition with the dead tree in the very centre of attention. I would title this photo "skyscraper". Excellent processing which nicely emphasized the clouds. Great DOF: it really feels like three dimensional picture. Very well spotted.
Have a great weekend,
