Photographer’s Note
This is the Seventh of Twenty Four of my Grand Canyon Series.
Taken along the Hermit's Trail of the south rim. The American Indian Tribe, the Paiutes call the plateau that the canyon cuts thru Kaibab or "Mountain Lying Down" The name "Grand Canyon" was consistently used and published in 1870's. About 10,000 years ago, paleo hunters, chased big game in the Southest, but left few signs of their passage. In time they were followed by hunter-gatherers of the desert Archaic culture who inhabited the Grand Canyon region until about 1000 BC. Introduction of agriculture allowed family group to settle in one place. Native plants were cultivated. By AD 500, a new culture known as ancestral Puebloan (Anazasi) could be found at Grand Canyon. They inhabited dark and smoky semi-subterrenean pit houses. They hunted deer, rabbits and big horn sheeps and made fine baskets. About 2,000 ancestral Puebloan sites have been found within park boundaries, the most impressive of which is the Tusayan Pueblo. ueblo is a Spanish word meaning town. There were more Indian tribes that moved to the Grand Canyon. The last of these tribes were the Navajo. This note was based on www.americanparknetwork.com.
PP Work: Adjust levels control; Increase saturation; Sharpen; Remove noise; Convert to black and white; crop; Reduce file size for upload. I used RAW format for all photos I took of the Grand Canyon.

Hi André,
Very impressive shot! Excellent POV, great sharp and depth. I like this grey metallic color, the textures and the good contrast.
I choose it to my favorites.
Well done.

Hi Andre,
A superb composition, artistically rendered in this large format and B&W motif. You have created a virtual 3D effect here, as the view almost makes one dizzy. I like the slice of sky you have left in the scene to give perspective. This is very fine work, Andre. Congratulations.

Hi Andre!
You show us a beautiful place, the view is very impressive. I like your composition, sharpness and light are fine but why you use B&W? I think color in such photos is better. Anyway, good shot and well done!
Regards.

Wow - this looks amazing, Andre, what a good choice to go for b&w in this one. The way in which the sunlight accentuates the canyon textures results almost in a 3-dimensional impression on the rock formations. A very appealing piece of natural geometry. For a more abstract impression you could crop away the clouds, but I also like it a lot the way you show it here. Well done.

Excellent work, Andre! Your choice for B&W is very good, the contrasts and textures are really emphasized in B&W. Stunning view, nice soft textured clouds and a very nice square cut.

Andrew, impressive shot, such a great photo on the whole. Love your choice of B&W but most of all, love your capture of the rolling clouds that gives it a significant touch.

Spiro

What a landscape! And what a photo! I think it should be difficult to make a good picture of the Grand Canyon, as it is so obviously beautiful. Your picture is particularly dramatic - the strong shadows give a rough, almost cruel character to the landscape. Congratulations!

Hi André.
This is an original and interesting composition dealing with this place that has been the subject for so many photographs. The treatment (beautiful sharpness, optimal light and contrasts and most of all the superb b&w) you applied is great and makes your picture really unique. Even if we have not the beautiful colors of the place, here, we can enjoy particularly well the textures of these rock formations. thanks for sharing !

very nice.
I like where you put the horizion to help us feel the immense depth of the canyon. The b&w helps us to see the great shapes and such and not just the normal colors that we are used to.
I also like the square format.
well done

Great shot. The repeating lines and textures lead my eye all around the photo. The contrast is excellent and the detail is almost painfully crisp. I had to do a double-take when I saw this in square format because this is very similar to a photo I took years ago from the North Rim with my 6x6 C330f...I think this is a great fit for the square. As always, well done.
