One final picture from the Tempe Arts Festival, this one having a couple of ironic twists.
Alright ladies, help the rest of us out here…what is the love affair with shoes? I have a sister that can’t get enough of them, she probably has more pairs than I have photo’s!? O.K., that’s an exaggeration.
You know why women love shoes ?
Because no matter how much & whatever they eat , the shoes always fit. :)
The first bit of irony is the lady in front of this giant poster wearing a shirt promoting a bar called “The Barefoot.” C’mon now…it’s gotta’ be one or the other! lol
The second instance pertains to the sign in the bottom left corner…apparently I can’t read. I took a picture of a display that specifically asks for no photo’s to be taken. Oops! Too late now.
As the ‘barefoot’ shirt says “No shirt. No shoes. No problem”…hopefully this artist will never look here.
On a side note, I have a megabajazillion (yes, that’s a real word I just made up) things coming up, so you won’t have to deal with my nonsense for a bit. See you again in about a week or so. Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter everyone. Don’t forget to eat up all of those chocolately treats that roll around this time of year.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Jason. Mrs Marcos from the Philippines had enough shoes to fulfill that particular obsession, but then there is always the next pair to be desired and purchased.I do like the irony and if it was pure chance, than you are one lucky guy. Enjoy your chocolates. Regards. Klaudio.

What a funny photo and so well observed, presented and written about in the note. Amusing coincidence of the poster and coincidence and this barefoot T-shirt, to say nothing about the no photo sign. I am not like the woman from poster or your sister, a pair of good sandals is for me enough for the most part of the year.
Don't be too busy! I am looking forward to seeing and reading your nonsense after the week.
Happy Easter to you and your family, don't eat to much chocolate :)

Good title for a timely capture. Doubly ironic, as you say, when you consider the NO PHOTOS plea. Could be triply if that lady were taking an ironic snap herself. Imelda Marcos is the name conjured up in any discussion of women's shoes.

i`m thinking, that most people nowadays use a stretched portrait format to gain more space on the thumbnail pages. Or that they don*t know it better because they only use their smartphones. In this case the format really fits.
Royaldevon (33385) 2014-04-19 0:44
This has to be THE photograph of the day. What a perfect coincidence!! I laughed on both levels - the 'barefoot' promoter looking at the add deifying shoes and the notice requesting 'no photographs'.
Here is a quote from Sarah Sands in the Independent
'The pain that women endure for beautiful shoes is, like childbirth, unknown to men...High heels are to us what corsets were to late Victorian women. They are inhumanly uncomfortable - and yet self-imposed. There is an ecstatic relief at stepping out of them at the end of the day. One gazes down at swollen, red, slashed, blistered feet and thinks that Mallory's hobnail boot was an ordinary thing.'
It doesn't quite explain the shoe fetish but there is truth in it!
Thanks for this bright star to Saturday,

Without arguing about the delicate subject of shoes and women, Jason, the picture is a lot of fun: "Barefoot" T-shirt fit superbly with the advertisment, and made me smile - and that becouse you challanged the "No-Photos" sign.
Combined nicely wityh multi-colors over the entire image, fine spotted and taken the moment.
Enjoy a nice weekend,

Hey Jay Cee!
Stepping into dangerous territory here big guy! Imelda Marcos syndrome is not an area of the female psyche that us blokes will ever get out heads around, so you are in a no win sitto here mate. You are definitely on your own with the quip about them being the only thing that can be worn no matter how much overindulgence, though! - Brave Boy. Mind you I thought feet got fat too like hands and fingers!
Like the colourful irony of this shot on both levels it is typically "Cowlingesque". The bar sounds interesting too! Looks like it is in Iowa, not sure. So your mission, if you choose to take it, is to visit this bar and report back, or is it already on your list of megabajazillion things that you have on your Easter plate. Whatever you are up too - enjoy and don’t get too much chocolate and cream on your fingers ;-))))))

Nice contradiction between the advert and the Tshirt, the "no photo please" and your image.
Witty eye to discover this scene, TFS to us
Sergiom (67404) 2014-04-19 5:02
Une très belle ironie dans cette composition. La dame au T-Shirt est un très beau hasard et celui-ci est parfait devant cette publicité pour magasin de chaussures. J'aime beaucoup la saturation des couleurs.
marabu61 (9501) 2014-04-19 5:46
Ha, you just made my day with this truly well observed shot and your absolutely fitting and funny note. I really couldn't stop laughing here.
The thing with women and there shoes is a topic that I have discussed with my wife on several occasions but until now without a satisfying answer to it. And I wouldn't dar to start counting the pairs she owns ...
Don't overdo it in your many upcoming chores.
See you around and happy easter
krzychu30 (15510) 2014-04-19 8:25
you have really excellent intuition for this kind of shots my friend!
Love the background, love the context and finally funny character of the scene.
Haha and I really like the sentence after why woman love shoes:)
Wish You a Happy Easter and...keep an eye for more scenes like this

No photos, what a weird thing to have in an outdoor space. I thought the law said that I'd something is in a public place it's fair game for anybody to photograph, once its not government related. Perhaps.....this is a government run shoe shop and they use the fancy high heels and such to infiltrate the homes of female spies, and have little microphones hidðn inside to listen in all of those dinner conversations where conversations and secrets are traded......or maybe it's not, who knows.
I do like the irony of barefoot lady standing here of all places, perhaps she is one of the spies, making a message to those might be tempted.
Okay, I watched True Lies recently, it's had an impact, hahaha.
Anyway, great shot. I'd like to wish you and yours a very happy Easter filled with good times. See you when you're back on TE.
mcmtanyel (16625) 2014-04-19 12:47
Yes, I noticed both of your ironies. In fact I was going to scold you for the second one, but I will take admission of guilt as an apology, so I'll let you go with a warning this time. I am the photo police, you know!
Seriously, what's up with this no photos business, anyway? You go to museums, they say no photos, you are on the street taking photos, someone comes up to you and says "no photos!" If they want to preserve their precious works of art, they should keep them privately, lock them away out of sight so that we photographers can exercise our freedom without hindrance - sheesh!
Anyway, enough of my venting. You caught a good irony (the first one), as for the no photos business, you were not taking a photo of the poster, you took one of the t-shirt and the poster was in the background, so there...
PS. Happy Easter to you, too!

Hola, Hello, Salut Jason, mi amigo, friend ami
Nowadays women are just crazy for shoes, the highest, the best
Not easy to use but quite eye catching to wear, agree? On top of them you felt like a queen and queens don t need to eat:)))
Irony well presented taken just at the right moment
Why on earth NO Photos?
Well done and posted on TE
When returning read my note on the post of the bridge, about NO photos
Ok, in a Jasonian way
Wish you and family a Happy Easter or better..
worldcitizen (7616) 2014-04-19 16:12
Wow! The photography Gods lined everything up for this fun photo. :-) So much color...so much irony... I really like it. :-) You had a good eye and a quick hand to capture this scene. A Happy Easter to you!! P.S. I am not one of those female shoe hoarders. ;-)
kwekwekan (1078) 2014-04-19 18:53
If Monty Python took a picture, it might look something like this. Good eye to catch this one.
SnapRJW (31627) 2014-04-20 3:36
I am one of the women that bucks the shoe trend Jason! As long as I can walk comfortably in them that's about all that matters. Imelda Marcos I am not! I'd rather spend my money on a lens....
What a brilliant piece of irony, well spotted and well photographed. I guess the artist wants to hang onto the copyright and presentation of his work but the piece has Pop Art, Pop Culture as its basis.... funny.
I hope you are enjoying a super Easter weekend
Cricri (111373) 2014-04-20 5:47
Hello mon ami Jason
macjake (61434) 2014-04-20 14:19
I know you're away for a week or so but i still wanted to comment on this one.
I guess women could say the same thing about men...what is it with our obsession about cars (not every guy though). I fit in that category - i love cars. If i won the lottery i'd need a 10 car garage just to fit the new cars i'm gonna buy :)
my theory about 'no photos please' actually translated into english means - 'please take as many photos as you like' lol
don't you love those old comic book styles, with the large red dots for the skin...thats so classic.
Fun shot here, perfect!
take it easy, don't work to hard.
serp2000 (42060) 2014-04-21 6:52
Funny capture of a comics and real life, amazing intersection, indeed! I like your idea to make this story from the image. I think you could be work in good glamour magazine with your talent, my friend! ;)
Best wishes, have a great week ahead!

Nice colorful shot with a universal message to all husbands and lover.Good lighting and sharpness.Keep sharing.TFS.
rogerl (1544) 2014-04-23 13:54
Jason, not often we get two humorous things to admire in one photograph, but you've accomplished that here. Well seen; I wonder if the woman standing there realized the comedy of the situation?
jhm (144250) 2014-04-24 3:46
Women and shoes, dear Jason the world is full with rarities, indeed the previous writer wrote of Mrs Marcos, a little bit the same type.
Your picture is very sharp and clear.
Composition and presentation are excellent.
Very well done, TFS.
Gigidusud (18017) 2014-04-24 9:29
Ahah ah!
delpeoples (55090) 2014-04-25 6:19
hehehe, Alanis Morissette will be adding new lines to her lyrics after seeing this photo. Love the timing here, it really is a decisive moment. Unlike the decisive moments I manage to take, this one of yours is sharp as a razor and nicely saturated. Good vertical frame and depth. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend.
Kamilutka (8105) 2014-05-01 5:04
sometimes I also take photo and then realize what is actually on it. It is always nice surprise if we can get a picture which is unintentionally funny. You managed it here to get more that one twists and well done for that! I like the picture more the more I look at it :-) Nice framing and very good composition.
Good quality work! TFS!
carlo62 (38667) 2014-05-04 11:26
mi dispiace aver visto questa foto solo adesso.
Una foto molto umoristica e piena di contraddizioni, quasi impossibile fare di meglio.
Bravo, sei stato super.
adores (40960) 2014-05-26 16:16
You were really lucky to have the woman with the T-shirt near the poster. The irony really makes the photo here, it was really worth to take the risk:)!
