I made my way to the Tempe Arts Festival a couple of weeks ago, which is always a good time…you never know what you might find. Case in point, this guy! :)
I came upon this showman and his merry band of entertainers just as they had finished their show, so unfortunately I have no explanation for the costume. With his British accent and combination of apparel, my best guess is that he’s a long lost cousin of Elton John who must have veered juuuust a bit off course from England.
Whatever the case, he stood out in the crowd…and with those sunglasses, I just couldn’t pass up a shot or two.
Thanks for stopping by.

Funny scene on the street. Well done!
I go to work, have a good day my friend!

Of course he stood out in the crowd, Jason, a notable outfit like he had - draw attention of passing-by photographers.
Nice taken the moment, a special character guy, cheers.

Ha! Ha! Jason,
He is a bit 'showy' even for an Englishman! His jacket, however is very reminiscent of Freddie Mercury, though his glasses, I agree, are very Elton Johnish, whilst his pants ... what can I say, look as if they have come from the Everton mint factory!!
What a showman!
And, he needed to be in the f/g, centre stage!
He makes a great focal image, whilst the bustling crowd, behind him, radiate the sense of theatre, carnival!
Have a great day,

oh my, let the jokes start to fly with this one!
sexy? hmmm...no i don't think so. Attention seeking...i'll go with that one!
Imagine if all the photos in the world somehow got destroyed, and THIS was the ONLY living proof of our existence - found by some future civilization! It would not make the Human race look very good lol
fun photo though, easy to see why you took it.
just don't post anymore of these

Hey Captain Fantastic (EJ Reference here)
Have to agree with Craig on this one - if this is your idea of sexy then we need to see inside your wardrobe for proof that you do not troll the streets of Feeeenix in similar apparel. Hey! Don’t get me wrong - we are all individuals and what floats some boats sinks others, so if this is your style go for it mate! ;-)))))
To be honest I love characters like this, it is what makes Festivals special and this shot captures that mood and the appeal of the day. Quintessentially British old chap! Top marks for originality in this shot - pushing TE boundaries again, so more power to your elbow (so to speak :-)).

Je ne sais pas si il avait l'intention de passer inaperçu, mais il a manqué son coup. Il prend admirablement la pose devant le photographe en bombant le torse et en retenant sa respiration.

This guy seems to have tried hard to distinguish himself from the crowds. I would say he was quite successful. I like how you let him keep a distance to the crowds, while still including the not too blurred crowd in the background. They give us a sense of the action and various activities going on during the arts festival.

Before I clicked on the thumbnail I thought this was going to be an NYC photo for sure, but lo and behold, there are alternative types in Arizona, too! He does look confident strutting around in that interesting attire. He must have been hot, though, in that get-up under the Arizona sun! It's a fun shot. :-)

Ah Jason, I wouldn't go out in my back garden dressed like that ...
Truly an amazing character that you found yourself here. But that is the fun thing, the world is so full of weird people, that we can enjoy ourselves in.
have a great day

Good day Jason.
I shall try to speak as I would imagine an off kilter Elton John would, tally ho, what what.
Nah, I gave up, couldn't keep up that pretense! Cool shot though, what an outfit, and what a brave man to wear it in public too. You managed to get this under perfect light too to bring out every single eccentric detail of the scene.
And thank you, I am now singing that song too. I am sitting on my own in a hotel in Frankfurt humming Justin Timberlakes "sexy back". I somehow think I wont make many friends.
All the best
P.S. I took a few hours out of work life today to ramble around Frankfurt city centre, I will finally have some skyscapers to post! Good old European skyscrapers too. PIcture the ones you have in Phoenix, but wearing lederhosen. I'm like a kid in a candy shop here :)

Jason, seriously? This is a fantastic costume. The pentagonal glasses are just the icing on the cake, but it's kinda hard to take your eyes off the zebra pants. Nicely captured. Thanks.

The title is worth two smilies and the moment another two, but unfortunately on TE 2=2+2. Regards. Klaudio.
ourania (49831) 2014-04-21 5:43
this is a very effective presentation, even though the performer is isolated from his fellow entertainers, we get the spirit of their merry show and he is captivating in his exuberant outfit and dynamic posture. I like very much the way he stands within this narrow but deep frame, there's such contrast with the ordinary people behind him. The light and the colours are especially pleasant and I appreciate very much that you've included the whole of his shadow. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely Easter week,
Wanda1 (15142) 2014-06-03 23:38
Of course you could not let the opportunity pass you by to capture this man in all his finery, what a spectacle and what spectacular spectacles;-). A nice bit of fun worth the image.

Artists are sometimes weird people, and Elton John was sometimes als a extreme person wit his glasses.
Traditional but wonderful photographed.
Very well done, TFS.
