This is from the now-famous Horseshoe Bend Point near Page, Arizona. I don't think it was all that well-known at the time I took this picture, given the limited proliferation of the Internet back then. You can see variations of this everywhere these days. In fact, I hesitated to post it here, but decided to go ahead anyway because it seems to be wider and older than all others on TE. I found only one other film upload and none that precedes 2000.

The Colorado is about 2,300 km long. It starts off in northern Colorado state, and flows into the Gulf of California by way of Utah and Arizona. It is the primary source of irrigation in the desert southwest of the U.S. A short distance to the west of the Point is the Glen Canyon Dam and its reservoir, Lake Powell.

Hello Hakan Delic
That´s really very , very impressive!
Great POV!
TFS.
Kind regards,from RECIFE,
Nivaldo

Hi Hakan,
One of the places were i had a big WOW when i stood there. The place is famous and we have seen many pictures from it here on TE. Yours is coming in to the 5 best there are to be found here. It's film, it's Velvia and is alive and it's the perfect wide-angle to show this place. The clouds are wonderful, just as the sahow on the left. Seems you were also there at noon, the right time to be.
Sharpness is extreme, maybe a bit to much, but the view and the way you exposed it is just wonderful..!!!
I placed him in the Horseshoe Bend Theme
Have a nice weekend, Henk

Wow, this is cool to see a photo of Horseshoe Bend taken with a film camera way back in 1996! The warming filter was a good choice as it really brings out the color of the rocks. I love the high contrast from the Velvia film. The clouds are great too. Definitely worth posting.
Regards,
Ryan
P.S. I have three Velvia uploads of Horseshoe Bend, but they aren't nearly as old. :-)

there are a couple of shots of this place, yours is among the best ones ! amazing ! i like the colours and the ahrpness of this panorama !

Fantastic, Hakan! This knocks me out :) You have brought in this round feeling in a perfect way and I mean the light you had with the happy clouds above, just fantastic. I find it always difficult to work with different orange/browns but yours are so good, so natural, feels like being there myself. Excellent, it really is. I love it. Enjoy your weekend, Barbara.

Hi Hakan,
this is an awesome picture coming from the past and going to the future with the best qualifications! I have seen similar exhibitions but this one lacks for nothing. Fuji Velvia is a high-grade film and using Hoya 81A filter for warming you got a very good result, indeed. Extra fine details and excellent depth of the field. The scanning is also very good. The terrain is wonderful and fits for landscape photography.
Congratulations!

Hi Hakan,
Great photo from a great POV of this U-turn in the river. The very deep blue colour of the water contrasts wonderfully with the warm tones of the rocks. Beautiful light too and the clouds in the sky are very nice as well. Superb quality throughout the photo, thanks for sharing!

I can give you a big Wow for this one, Hakan. It's been a while since I've seen this place in TE, but I still open my mouth in surprise for the beauty of the POV. It also surprises me how this image is, considering it's almost a 12 years picture. I like the strong contrasts and the shadows coming from the left. The river is impressively dark which make this round shape stand out in a very attractive way. I'm glad you decided to post it.
Regards,
ricardo

Hi Hakan!

No matter how many times I see this magnificent place it keeps impressing me more and more. Of course your photo is far above in quality than most I have ever seen, the composition and framing are ideal, (of course the place has already "chosen" the composition), spot on light managment and the fantastic velvia colours, are making this one a masterpiece. Congratulations!

Warm regards, Hercules

Hi Hakan,
You are a master landscape photographer and this is a masterpiece! Good old Velvia can't be beat. This simply is magnificent! I don't know what else to say. Have a great return trip to the great American Southwest!
Stan

Oooooh this is a fantastic impression!
The POV is very good, the lightness also and you dealt the image very good too.
Best regards.
Evangelos

From what I have read it is not easy to get this view in one frame, especially with digital. Probably a film camera as here is the best way to get the wider angle. Amazing image with the gorgeous Velvia colours and very well scanned. Well done
Kath

This is so spectacular in so many aspects,
-the wide angle without any distortion other then the curvature of the earth
-the light conditions and the weather, you have uninterruped sunlight just where you want it, yet a super busy sky
-the subject, which must be one of the most spectacular desert lookouts in the world
-and finally that timeless Velvia quality and the flawless scan work.

I think the sharpness is fine, there is a smidgen of vignetting in the top left and right corners (I get that a lot lately as well because of the polariser, which does not have a flat surface)

I wanted to add it to favorites, but it seems I've reached my limit already.

Merhaba Hakan,

Years ago when we visited the Grand Canyon I missed Horseshoe Bend, most likely, as you said, it was not so well known. The astounding colors in this image make it different that 2-3 that I've seen on Trekearth. One version I remember is by Peter Boehringer, and Kathy Marscher may have also photographed it. This twelve your old slide has been scanned flawlessly from the superb Fuji Velvia. A 17-mm lens on a 35-mm analogue camera produced approximately 140° from side to side. Thus you've produced an almost fisheye image.

Warm regards,

Bulent

Hi Hakan.
What a surreal landscape ... such a fascinating sight. Good color saturation and image sharpness. Well captured and documented. The way you angled your shot and composed the image is also very good. Well done! tfs
Cheers,
Renier

That's a spectacular view. The saturation in this picture is great. The clouds look fantastic, full and on the move. There is a lot of contrast between the different colours. Great shot.

I do not see the reason of your hesitation, for the image is superb: the point of view underlines perfectly the curve of the river, sharpness is excellent, there is jsut the sky which look a bit bright here but the clouds are also bautifull.
Personnally, I believe that the fact that a monument or land site has drawn many (to many...) pictures should not be an obstacle for taking it (of course) or posting it if the image is of such a top quality as this one.

All the best,

Emmanuel

Hello Hakan
A spectacular view from a good high vantage point with great luminosity allowing to see distinctly the different color tones of this wonderful place. The clouds are a great bonus!
Cheers
