Face To Face

I've seen quite a few abstract images from Antelope Canyon. When I framed this shot I was concentrating on two things: composition and lighting because of the extreme highlights, but I did not see this abstraction until I was going through this series of shots tonight.
I chose to leave the shadowed areas on the left and right nearly as is, only opening up the shadows enough to show some rock details. To me the shadowed areas look like two people meeting face to face. A man on the left and a woman on the right. Rock formations courtesy of Mother Nature. |

Hi Michael
very nice image
It's hard to understand what we are looking at at the first glance, but the image has a great appeal to me. I like the exposure and the colours. it looks kind of a flame of some sort. very nice details of the rocks
cheers
chris
Another fine Upper Antelope Canyon image. At least I think it is Upper and not Lower. :)
Your collection of Antelope images collectively makes for a nice study of this unique place.

oh, how I wish to see this place with my own eyes... it must be magic, since I haven't seen a single bad photo from there. but this is one of the most interesting shots, particularly because of the delicate balance between pure silhouettes on the one hand and just enought details on the other, excellent choice. and you're quite right, the shadowed areas do look like man and women, and the ambient light creates quite a romantic mood :) fantastic photo, Michael, thanks for sharing.
wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year,
Kristine
