Mid-day at Antelope Canyon in the summer showcases these beams of sunlight through the narrow openings overhead.

The Navajo guides move quickly and adroitly along the canyon's approx. 300 foot length while pointing out exact footings for the "best shots". The whole thing seemed a bit contrived, but once these beams passed as the afternoon sun shifted, we did have plenty of time to savor the atmosphere.

An unforgettable experience.

Great photo, love the colors. Well done.

Hi Kathy! Nicely done, the details are laser sharp and the orange sandstone color is fabulous. The beam adds great extra interest to the scene as well as that starburst effect you captured.

Well done!
Doug

Hi Kathy,
You managed the light superberly, the detail of the rock is amazing!! Larry says, "Wow!! That's pretty spectacular!!"
I grew up in Winslow AZ and my grandmother used to my rugs from a fellow that brought them to the house. Other than that, they mostly just sat on the street corners and tyhe children were brought into to town, away from the reservation during the school year - So I'm really glad to hear that they have come up in the world.

HI Kathy,

A place I never tire of seeing images from .. very nice .. I love the beam and the little hint of sunspot . and of course the amazing textures and tones of this place .. this has a great deep dimension .. I love what the landscape orientation does for this ... (so many shots of this place are vertical) .. tremendous .. beautiful.

take care,

John

Hi Kathy,
It's a beautiful photo from Antelope Canyon... Even if I saw a lot of them already, the small opening (probably) gave this fancy star effect at the start of the sunbeam. That's what makes the difference here! Thanks a lot and "félicitations"

Hi Kathy,

a rally impressive colourful pic!
I was so silly and unlucky when I visited Antelope canyon!
silly: I had neither a tripod nor a good camera
unlucky: too many tourists and bad light!

a wonderful pic indeed!
ciao

Hi Kathy,
Just amazing how this is a natural thing.
You captured it very well.

If you live in California, I wish you are safe and sound during these days of wildfires.

Still and again Canyon of Antelope! And every time a source of surprise! Thank you Kathy for this very great shot, alain

Hello Kath,

What brilliant colors, highlighted by that shaft of light penetrating from above. What I find particularly compelling are the strata you see in the wall (on the right)). I am curious about the age of the upper vs. the lower stratta. Very good note about your personal experience.

Have a good weekend,

Bulent

Hi Kathy.
The colour of the canyon walls in this light is incredible. The exposure is first class, capturing so much detail and the beam of light. You composed it very carefully to catch the star-shaped sunlight just beside the rock wall. The striations and strata in the rock are really well defined. Terrific shot.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Kathy,
Gorgeous shot that brings back memories. One of the best for sure! Colors and the beam are very nice. But I like that piece of wood and the sunburst even more because they truly make this image one-of-a-kind, which is a big achievement considering the popularity of the place. Best wishes,
Hakan

Hi Kathy,
A very nice shot of Antelope Canyon. We visited there last May and thoroughly enjoyed this amazing place. You can see a few images in my gallery if you care to visit. You managed the complicated light very well in this shot and I really like the shaft of light entering the image from the "star" above. Great work and TFS. Gerald

Well done Kathy. I have been there but not when the light was this special and also in the days of film so I could not tell how my shots turned out until I got home. A beautiful composition with light beam on an angle.

Incredible, The perspective and composition are excellent. You handled the lighting well and I like how you included just the right amount at the light beam's point of entry. I took this tour two summers ago...a great experience indeed.

Dear Kathy! Amazing how you caught the light, and something like a "natural lazer show" comes to my mind but only much better. The very deep orange is simply beautiful and I just discoverd the little star reflecting on the stone coming in from the sun outside. I can imagine that this experience stays forever. Wonderful photo. Have a good day, Barbara.

Hello Kathy
You've been blessed to attend to such a miracle: I've been there on overcast day!
Light reflected by sand on the ground reveals all the subtlety of shapes on sandstone and illuminates beautifully the walls.
Such an appealing tableau!
Beast regards.
Robert

This is an excellent shot Kathy! Great colors and composition. Do you like your sigma 10-20 lens? I love my Nikkor 12-24, but would love to go even wider.

Brian
