In transit along northern Arizona's Highway 89A to the next campground, I could feel the storm coming via the wind and atmosphere. Then I could see the immense dark clouds coming my way from the horizon, highlighted by lightning bolts. I set up my tripod and started taking photos hoping to capture the elusive lightning strikes, but failed and had to put away my camera as the rain hit quickly and I had no protection, plus the fear of being hit out in the open by a lightning bolt.

What a colour contrast between the land and the sky!
The rocky soil may be very dry, the thunderstorms look like they bring much precipitation. Unfortunately rainfall will be much too irregular, I understood from your previous post.
Best regards, Paul

Menacing sky of the incoming storm gives a strong color contrast at the maily orange ladscape
Very well done (taken), congrats

I hope you were there in car, not on foot. With no lightning, it still looks impressive. Interesting view of the thunderstorm. Dramatic feeling indeed.

Même sans éclair, tu as réussi à capturer une scène à l'atmosphère très spéciale dans ce somptueux paysage.

Oooh I love a good storm and some would say this is a perfect storm. Desert colours contrast so beautifully with that threatening grey sky and the textures and tones blow me away. Wonderful shot, with perfect Rule of Thirds framing.
Warmest wishes, thanks for sharing'

A fantastic photo taken on the desert rainstorm, the wind gusts created a marvelous "paintings" over the clouds, which gave many diff. tones of shades.
There is a good distinction between land and sky.
Impressive shot, nature's great sight.

Arizona in hazy air looks a little bit different than the one normally presented on TE. I like light composition in here with plenty of space given to this pretty sky. The warm colors of the rocks contrast lovely with the background.
Nice, wide perspective and well chosen POV.
All the best! TFS

Just an astonishing panorama, impressive graphic of the storm sky, this place looks like a continuing of the Grand Canyon, although it reminds me some another views from Utah, Colorado, Nevada etc.
Good presentation of Arizona.

The photo gives a good impression of an approaching storm. The light is wonderful, especially the wisps of falling rain and the god beams coming though the clouds. Good sense of depth n the barren landscape.

I like such views where incoming rain makes the sky darker than the landscape. And it looks just awesome on a desert canyon terrain. Falling rain and sunrays make a diamond like pattern on clouds, quite interesting. I think this could be even more striking with a bit of contrast boost.
