Photographer’s Note
There are lots of national parks and famous formations situated in northern Arizona/southern Utah and some unknown (in anycase my guidebook says nothing) but spectacular scenery that you just find by the roadside like this one not far from Page, on the way to Monument Valley.

Hi Nikki,
you chose the perfect POV, spectacular how the rock is rising out of the plain with that diagonal rim.
Compliments, Christian

Salut Nikki,

Hi Nikki, very effective vertical presentation. I like the strong light very much and the depth. Nice tohave those clouds also. Best regards, ALex

Bonjour Nikki

Bravo.

Hi Nikki,
That is a bizarly shaped rock formation and you have fitted it very exactly into the frame. Good use of thirds for your composition and I like the contrast between the striking orange of the rock and the blue of the sky. Of course the few fluffy white clouds add nice interest to the sky too.
Regards
Wanda

Hello Nikky,
Some rock! Nice composition and framing, great colours. I was going to add that the clouds could use a bit of "whitening" to get rid of the effect of the polarizer, but just noticed that someone has already done that in a workshop :-) But the picture is great even without it. Cheers, Dasha

Hi Nikki!
It is indeed a new monument for me, a first encounter that give me a good first impression.
Clever use of the front cactus or whatever plants that is - I'm a crappy botanist... - , that constitute excellent foreground and used as an eye-magnet leading to this unfamous landscape, nonetheless remarkable.
And Nikki, send this photo to Utah park authority, tell them it is an unmarked monument and give it the "Mont Francis" denomination. Or "Cherryripe Reversed Pudding".
Cheers mi amico!

Hi Nikki, this place is so full of amazing sights that something as extraordinary as this rock formation, they haven;t had the time to name it! It contrasts beautifully against the deep blue sky and the inclusion of the flora in the FG gives us an idea of the immense scale of this monolith. I thought Oz had this type of thing sewn up, but am slowly - and reluctantly - changing my opinion. Thanks for sharing it, your desert series is an education, and a beautiful one at that. warm regards, Lisa. (PS We'd love to see you back in Oz, maybe you could find time for a trip to Syd? - we have a good supply of Cherryripes here :)

Hello Nikki,
The tight crop of this striking colourful landscape is very effective. The eyes are drawn and focus on the main subject wthout any distraction. I can only wish there are something like this near to Melbourne.

Hello Nikki, Yes just a rock, just like our Uluru, just a rock but much more to others. When I looked at the title I imagined as you described just one of many but I also wondered if it had a similar meaning to the indigenous people there, possibly not. Nice rich colours, it contrast very well with the almost clear blue sky.
Thanks
Take care
Santo

Salut Nikki

Hi Nikki,
The rock formation is very interesting. I think you managed exposure well to give this composition good colours under what seem bright sunlight. Great job, thanks for sharing!

Hi Nikki,
yes, just a rock, but a great photo! The clouds add the perfect finish. Hard light, as we're used to out West, but you did well with it.
Hope all is well! Take good care,
Linda

Hola Nikki,
Charo

Hello Nikki, the landschape is magnificent and your choice of POV very good. You handeld the light extremly good. I found the crop a bit to tight: i would like to see a bit more on the left and right side.
Best regards

Hello Nikki,
Another beautiful shot, yes just a rock in the middle of somewhere and nowhere. What is fantastic about the area is every time you turn the cornor, there some beautiful rock formation and landscape, I just wanted to stop and take picture all the time, but at some point we have to get to our destination. So I really have to fight with myself and not stopping too many times. Lovely sky and cloud to acoompany your rock. Very nice.

Salut Nikki,
