Photographer’s Note
These directions were placed on the Usery Mountains, north of Mesa, Arizona, to aid pilots who misplaced their landing field. Admittedly it was during WWII when navigational equipment wasn't as good.

Good use of cacti in the foreground to add interest and give an idea of the arid terrain.
