Photographer’s Note
My south patio seems to be favorite nesting location for the local birds. This time the house finches are multiplying; funny thing, during the triple digit temperatures we had for several days they were AWOL and I thought the nest was abandoned - maybe they had gone to cooler elevations. But now we are back in double digit temps and they have returned and are tending the nest. Eggs have now developed more freckling.

Flaws:
1. Most striking is the long black rectangle in the photo. Thats a huge minus there. Are you blocking out the date? It would be much more aesthetically pleasing to just leave the date.
2. Your composition. There are too many things in it that dont contribute to the theme of the photo. A good, tight shot on the eggs without the floor would have been far better. The eggs would have come out bigger, not small like in this photo. If possible, you should have done something about the plastic cable going from the pot upwards. It is not nice to look at and detracts from the greenery of the plant.
3. This needs postprocessing. You need to sharpen it up, you could have easily cropped the black rectangle as well as 20% of the unnecessary bottom and cleaned up that ugly shadow. after that, a bit of tweeking in the saturation and contrast and you could have had a better photo.
