Photographer's Note
The inclusion of people & part of the lookout platform, give a better idea of scale, than previous uploads. Taken late afternoon, so not much that I could do about the shadow across the canyon at right. I commuted from Flagstaff, although expensive accomodation is available at Grand Canyon Village, for sunrise shots.
This section of the South Rim, is around 7,000 feet above sea level. The Canyon is a mile deep in places, where the Colorado River has cut down to the bedrock, over the millenia.

Hello Chris,
I like the colorful rimrock and the view from your vantagepoint. You have succeeded in showing the scale of just the immediiate area where the viewpoint is, but in that, the depth behind the viewpoint is overwhelming for many to comprehend. From flood rises desert...
Great shot...

Hello Chris,
A fine composition with an excellent point of view. I like the tonal contrasts whilst the people bring a human touch to this massive and expansive landscape. Very good natural looking colours and excellent sharpness throughout.

Hi Chris,
the famous Grand Canyon, when I was there myself I couldn`t believe the beauty of this place and the next thing I noticed is it is almost impossible to capture its beauty on camera, but you did well here. The inclusion of the people in the image gives an idea of the size of the canyon, though you still can´t imagine how huge it really is unless you see it yourself. Very nice shot, I like it a lot!
Take care

Your composition and POV are great here. The lighting is strong but you have handled it nicely. The colors are well saturated and the photo has excellent sharpness and detail. The people give the scene a sense of scale.

Hi Chris,
The presence of the people has an effect of scale. The point of view toward the Grand Canyon and the horizon which is giving depth yp the photo. The intensity of the light is enhancing the colors and is giving a good contrast to them. Have a nice day.

hi Chris
Incredible POV of this canyon and you had a good sweeping view to include a thin slice of the interesting blue sky which actually competes for attention against the cliff rock formation. I can see the layers of color on the strata so clearly. I am not sure if there is overexposure on the left, perhaps it is the color tone of the stone itself.
You would not be able to convert the shadow into something else, no but very good capture.

Hello chris,
You're right, the people help to give an understanding of the immense scale of this amazing canyon! The eroded cliffs seem to go on for ever, with their characteristic coloured layers!
Lovely composition!
You have managed to give us 'non-visitors' a sense of the grandeur, breathtaking beauty and enormity of this wonderful natural spectacle.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

It is an excellent shot. The colours of the different rock layers are wonderful and the harsh light was very well managed.
In here, people look insignificant when compared with the immensity of the scenery. Thanks for view.

Chris,
It is true, I like to include thing in the foreground often for composition as well as depth and reference of scale. This is really a gigantic view, Grand Canyond can never be fully appreciated in a photo, but this one is as good as it get showing the decent and the distance. You got a beautiful sunny day. I planned to be here in June but get cancel due to work schedule. I'm trying again for September. Cheers and thanks.

Hi Chris,
It's interesting that you include the lookout platform with people, not only to give scale, but to give the opportunity to see a a different, unusual and not less realistic sight of the place. I don't dislike the shadow on the right. The compo is very well done.
Regards, José.

Hi Chris,
Another breathtaking view on this famous landscape. The light is superb and is well worth the color so typical of this arid and hostile but beautiful area. I would like to be in place of these people !!! Thank you Chris.
With all my friendships and soon
