[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
As most people who have visited the Grand Canyon know, sunset is a truly magical time in terms of the quality of light and how and where the light falls on the geologic formations. My eye was drawn to this eroded mesa in the canyon. I thought of it as a sort of "commander" or sentry.

Hi Michael,

This a great capture - right place-right time is only part of the equation though; compositon is the real making of an image snf here your choice gives away your other (geological)interests.

I like how the layers in the rock create the effect of noise across the frame - sort of like looking at interference on a TV.

The layers in this image are full of depth and its all brought together by the compression of the telephoto lens
