Grand Canyon @ Sunset - East view of the rocks lit by the sun's 'spotlight'
I visited GC in Feb of 2004 - up on the rims was very cold - some parts covered with snow, others iced... In the morning as I started my hike down the canyon I had my winter coat on to keep warm; at noon as I was half-way into the canyon there was a completely different climate - sunny, mild refreshing breeze... a t-shirt was just fine. I rested for a while enjoying the view, took some photos and then come back up. In the evening as I was getting closer to the top it was getting very cold again...
This photo reveals the beauty of the canyon at sunset: rock colors change continuously during the day in relation to the light cast upon them. That evening the sky was clouded and the winds got a bit strong on the rim... For about 5-10 min the sun made its way through, casting its rays between the clouds, on the canyon's rocks, right before it set. I was in the right place at the right time...
