This flat topped butte is called Cedar Mountain and lies at the eastern end of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA. It stands proud at 7,053 feet (2,150 meters) and can be seen here from Desert View Point. Rain showers can be seen falling from the large clouds that are casting shadows and obscuring the view towards The Painted Desert.

here you presented an interesting and equally beautiful frame from nature. I like the vibrant colour tone a lot. The textures of land is just fascinating and you presented it with sharp details. I like the inclusion of those greeneries at extreme right. A very nice one. Tfs.

Ciao e buon fine settimana

Layer upon layer of colour and detail in this expansive and majestic landscape Brian. The rain falling behind the butte has been delicately captured and adds another good natural feature to a shot already brim full with the wonder of nature.
Have a great weekend

Hello, I love this photo of the Grand Canyon. the vertical format works best here to capture the essence of what the canyon holds for its' viewer, the low plants in the foreground, the magnificence of the rock formations and the canyon itself and then the clouds and the beautiful sky. You really had a great trip to the canyon that time.

I mean this as a compliment...your picture has just made my eyes explode! There is so much to view inside here! The sense of depth you have created with all of these layers is phenomenal and the sense of scale is superb. The colors then are such a treat to view, you must surely have at least half of the 6 billion colors known to man inside this shot! I love how you have captured the falling rays of light off in the distance.
This whole composition is just amazing. Thanks for sharing this beauty.
All the best

Nice view of the flat mountain in the distance. Like the effect created by the rain showers over that area. Nice one with superb clarity, vibrant colours and lovely light.

Goooood mornin' BD,
How are you today big guy? You know I won't miss the chance to comment on your Grand Canyon pics...and wow, I wouldn't have guessed this to be one of 'em!? This has almost an entirely different visual, where's the wide open and spacious cavern below...this looks more like the rest of the state rather than that ginormous hole in the ground. Big score on the originality of this most famous location!
I'm in awe of the colors more than anything else, especially the pinkish shades of the horizon. You've got yourself a real cracker of a shot here, I'm really loving the view, not one I've seen before. Good thing that distant butte isn't any taller, might get mistaken for Devils Tower in Wyoming...and then how would you explain the rest of the landscape?? :) Enjoy the new day. Take it easy.
Cheers from Az.,

both the view itself as well as your PP work are magnificent and complement each other well!
Superb combination of bright, vivid colors and amazing cloud formations, which also helps to build the mood of the scene.
Have a nice sunday

Le paysage est superbe et le ciel qui le domine l'est tout autant. Excellente photo.

Again one impressive photo of the grand canyon... How many do you have ?
The details of the sky and the canyons are really good. But I do not know, for the bush on the foreground, it seems that there are some artefacts.. maybe the compression of the photo on the site ?
emka (98810) 2014-03-24 23:54
This is also magnificent view of the grand canyon. Marvelous colours and awesome sky. Stunning presentation.

Amazing image with well chosen foreground and the point of focus. Great idea to shoot it in portrait format to make the most of the interesting clouds. The colours are incredibly beautiful.
