A view from Desert View on the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA as a large black condor glides gracefully on the thermals rising from the canyon floor.
As a response to yesterdays post, by Serghei (serp2000) and the lonely little cloud, I am giving him a cloud or two in my sky. Thanks Serghei and I raise you a condor!

Gidday dear Brien
Oooh wow, what a sensational shot. I love that you broke the Rules and gave almost as much room for that magnificent sky as you did for the amazing foreground, rocks and mountains. The clouds really accentuate this contrast between the 2 main elements. The vertical frame is well chosen and very artistic. Great shot, thanks for sharing.

What a fantastic shot of the famous canyon. One of the best I have seen from this place. The soaring condor, the atmospheric sky, the wonderful warm light on the canyon walls all add up to make a fine photo. Excellent capture with vibrant colours and superb clarity as usual. Thanks for sharing.

Everything is there before our eyes ... this beautiful landscape, bird clouds ... it is for you. Superb photography!
This is well documented.
snunney (89996) 2014-03-15 3:43
The sky is indeed magnificent and helps give the scene superb depth. Good choice of the vertical framing and bravo for having the courage to allocate equal proportions to sky and landscape. Superb colours and sharpness. Very well done. Have a great weekend.
chrislo (4155) 2014-03-15 4:03
A fabulous image of this fascinating landscape, with a spectacular viewpoint looking up the valley and providing a great depth. The setting sun really lights up the rocks wonderfully and gives the whole image a fairy tale look. A perfectly executed image with outstanding quality.
kasianowak (7565) 2014-03-15 4:37
What a majestic view! Superb colours and well-selected foreground intrest. Perfect timing to place the condor just in the right spot.
Have a nice weekend

This is possibly your best Grand Canyon shot Brian.
I think your PP work is accomplished and beautiful; the FG area with vegetation has an ethereal fairy-tale look to it with the trees having a strange twisting beauty. The central area has richly coloured detail and the river snakes through the canyon towards the distant horizon like a silken thread. And then the sky..... finely detailed with the distant rain storm and flying high the Condor. This is a landscape of adventure!
Have a great weekend.

Always gorgeously wonderful Grand Canyon South Rim!
Another magnificent picture of it with special regards to the inclusion of that flying condor!
Sharpness, exposure, colors, vertical format, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,

Brilliant vertical frame here, Brian, giving a sense of scale that's incredible. The colors are amazing, and it's easy to see why so many people have compared the Grand Canyon and some of its surroundings to paintings. And of course the lone condor is a great counterpoint in a cloudy, moody sky. Thanks!

Hello, there is so much to like in this photo. A big sky with a bird, strong emphasis on the foreground and depth within the scene looking down into the canyon. Spectacular,
Noel_Byrne (27430) 2014-03-15 8:29
This is epic. The landscape alone with its colors so vibrant I think I can almost HEAR them, the expansive view over the land, and the striations in the rocks as we can layer upon layer created over millions of years. A beautiful sight. And what could compliment this better than a magnificent bird like a condor flying so gracefully above. Beautifully done. Even the clouds are like a work of art.
All the best
rychem (28093) 2014-03-15 9:32
Simply fantastic, like a colorful painting, fantastic landscape of Grand Canyon and wonderful cloudy sky, compliments
ivtchik (836) 2014-03-15 11:18
that is really a fantastic shot, natural, full of details. The central foreground is really contrasting with that mineral world, and driving our look until the end of that canyon.
Good, good, good!

Mr. Wun Hung Lo,
How are you good sir? O.K., the stakes have been raised...can I get in on this game? :) Me and Serghei shared the same sky, so now that I think about it, I really don't have much more to bring to the table...I'm out before I ever got in. Uhhmmm....hey-ohhh!
What a beauty take on the canyon, giving latitude, quite literally, to the sky. Good thing this was taken in recent years...think you would have stood around long if that were a pterodactyl instead? Not that there were camera's around back then, but still...ruuunn!
We couldn't have asked for a nicer day, but I do envy the more dramatic skies you were able to capture, making the views over the park even more emphatic and colorful. Strap a camera to that condor, let's get a true birds-eye view. For now though, I'll admire this one. A truly beautiful shot displaying the grandeur and alluring details of natures handy work. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Take it easy mate.
Cheers ftom the Grand Canyon State,

Dear Mr. Brian,
A very attractive photo. The bird is adding beauty to the photo. The clouds are also very attractive.
macjake (61496) 2014-03-15 22:33
this is in all honesty one of the best photos' i've ever seen of the grand canyon.
wow, just look at that view.
the fg is just as impressive as the bg area too.
the sharpness and attention to detail is second to none my friend.
its an easy 10 out of 10 for me!
jjcordier (79040) 2014-03-15 23:49
Une nouvelle somptueuse photo à ajouter à ta fantastique collection d'images de ce fabuleux endroit. Lumière, couleurs, composition au top....le condor étant la cerise sur le gâteau.
siudzi (34141) 2014-03-16 1:22
Wow! What a shot! I know that you have a very beautiful series from this place but this pic is absolutely my favorite one. Perfectly seen and taken from a well selected POV to get this amazing view with intensive, contrasting tones. Bravo!
Have a nice day!
Kamilutka (8105) 2014-03-16 8:10
this is excellent shot - my sincere congratulations! the landscape itself is stunning but I think the way you caught it enhanced its beauty very much. I love the colors, which are absolutely beautiful and the whole composition, but somehow the most cute part of this picture is the bird flying above the canyon.
ChrisJ (104307) 2014-03-16 9:07
Never thought to look up when I was there! I kept looking down into the canyon! Good inclusion of the bird and what a view. It seemed like every turn along the south rim trail offered a new photo opportunity! Nice warm cold color contrasts between blue and red with good sharpness. Tfs!
Bartleby (13552) 2014-03-16 9:55
not much to add expect that this is a wonderful shot, composition-wise, exposure-wise, you-name-it-wise!
fabbs99 (16817) 2014-03-16 22:21

Beautiful panoramic view of the Grand Canyon, the vertical worked well with the composition. A friend told me about those candors, maybe someday I'll go there again. Good lighting and sharp details with wonderful colors. Well done, tfs.
phildar77360 (328) 2014-03-17 9:36
Quelle vue splendide.
Les couleurs sont sublimes et les détails bluffant.
Et le plus de ta photos, c est qu on se rend vraiment compte a quel point le grand canyon est large et profond.
HimalAnda (10303) 2014-03-22 3:17
This is a very nice picture, with your usual beautiful colors, your usual sharpness and sens of composition, but the little thing that make this picture so nice is the condor in the sky.
