Another shower passes with the rain settling the haze and bringing out the rich colours and warm tones of the awesome Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA.

I have never visited the Grand Canyon but can imagine that the colours of this fascinating landscape change all the time with the passing of the day and the vagaries of the weather. Great capture here with superb colours and lighting. The solitary spindly tree makes an excellent anchor point before we go on to take in the grandiose landscape in the background. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend.

A fantastic red rocks scenery, Brian, typical stones of the Grand-canyon walls.
Well collected the impressive landscape from the edge of its cliff, fine DOF and clear view after the rain was over.
Layers of diff. era's rocks seem marvelousely, open geology book...
Enjoy a nice weekend,

very nice landscape here. Amazing Grand Canyon. Fine vertical composition. Good composition with the dead tree on FG. Also I like the game of light with shadows and unusual colors of rocks.
Have a nice WE.

Grand Canyon uguale a sogno.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

A richness of colour which really brings out the layers of sediment in this shot Brian. A fascinating look at multiple bands of the earth's history stretching back millions of years. The FG detail adds immediacy to the shot allowing the viewer to connect with the wider view. Have a great weekend (but be prepared for the giant winds and rain I see is headed your way) Rosemary

GREAT... Another great shot here. Love the layers of colours in this image. The composition is fine as ever. The tree in FG stands really well with such background. Really enjoyable shot. Tfs.

I really like your pictures of the Grand Canyon. The composition is very good, and the red colors beautiful. And your management of the depth of field and clarity is perfect.

stunning view and cleverly shot with the dry black tree in the foreground - contrasting element which also helps to give the image some depth. What I love about this picture as well is the thick leyer of clouds which frames the picture from above. Lovely light and colors!

amazing POV,which provides us with really unforgettable view of the Canyon. The vertical format you chose here was a perfect choice.Really like these different layers you created by using the format. The greenery at the bottom, than red rocks of the Caynon and finally dark, grey clouds.Perfect combination!
Have a nice weekend

Hi Brian (is it your new photo in Intro? Anyway, I haven't notice it earlier, nice)
Magnificent photo from the grand Canyon. Spectacular composition with the dry tree and white platform against intensive red rocks of the canyon. The clouds are also very beautiful.

Mother Nature creates wonders, and you've photographed flawless one of the wonders, beautiful view, beautifully captured
ourania (18672) 2013-10-26 9:24
your picture has fantastic depth and gives us a most rewarding view of this natural wonder. I like very much the inclusion of wild and dry vegetation that introduces us to the vast scenery and makes a reference to your vantage point. The amount and beauty of the tonalities that lie ahead is incredible. I also love how the view and the composition are topped by the dense and textured clouds. The shady area offers a fascinating natural contrast. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

Beauty of Grand Canyon always amazes and I never get tired looking pictures of it. I like the colour variations ranging from dark orange to violet in the background. Some clouds add contrast nicely.

I didn't get a chance to log into TE yesterday, but did see your previous upload to which I was getting ready to comment on...and then I see this one, and well....you know it's going to overtake my brain. :)
Each shot of yours is just as enticing, colorful and attractive as the canyon itself. That portion of lighter colored rock in the bottom right is genius for contrast and lighting influence. This vertical format enhances the layers even more so, especially with the threatening clouds at the top of the frame. I really like the use of the withered and brittle tree as an anchor point with the rich, rustic tones behind it.
I said it before, I'll say it once more...keep these coming! Hope you're not freezing yet, and if so, come back to sunny 'ol Az. any time. :) Take it easy amigo.

Good evening, Brian,
Let me add my congratulations on your excellent photo too. It also reminds me a Martian landscape, impressive colors and superb DoF. Ohh, good reson to visit your personal site. Just now.

So relieved to hear that you've survived the storms. Mother Nature is really wreaking havoc on us all around the world at the moment. So I hope there wasn't too much damage and that you're all in one piece.
This photo shows Mother Nature again getting a bit angry, but the effect is very dramatic and awe-inspiring. I love the things that overcast stormy skies can do to a photo and as they've done here, they really illuminate the colours to an extraordinary degree. The vertical frame shows the differing levels of colour and texture so well, adding a palpable depth to the image. Thanks for sharing, have a beautiful - and serene - day.
