The outside wall of the observation deck at Desert View at the eastern end on the south rim of the magnificent Grand Canyon in Arizona, USA. A last glimpse of the Colorado River as rain clouds move in across the canyon.

I realise it is impossible to stop people sharing images once posted on the internet and I have no real issue with that, it is flattering to know that they like them that much………but to make money from them is another matter and infringes copyright.

The burnished red tones of the landscape are beautifully set off against the stormy sky. Superb rendering of the nuanced colours and textures in the fascinating rock strata. Very well composed with the rising rocks on the right making a superb frame. Thanks for sharing, have a good week.

Magnificent panoramic view using the stones as FG interest - such vivid and warm colours too.
Yes - I have not been as regular on here lately due to taking delivery of a new printer Epson 3880 and getting my head around all the printer drivers and colour management etc - a bit overwhelming but I have got there now and it prints some fantastic images.
Hope the connection improves.

Nice view of the grand canyon with a spectacular spotted sky, enhancing and cintrasting with te red hues of the stone. The rock at right closes well the picture.

Hello Brian - Nice to see the walls of the observation deck are constructed from local stone and you have used the slice of wall to great effect here. It brings the viewer into the frame and I feel as if I am standing in your shoes looking at the dramatic view. Very nice work here, good detailing and what a sky! Hope your 'connection' has been fixed! Warm regards rosemary

I was going to say the outside wall at right looks almost manmade because the boulders are so neatly stacked! Good sharpness, fantastic warm cold colour contrasts between the red and blue, and welcome back! Here we get a glimpse of the Colorado River. Tfs! Brings back memories of a locale with a high wow factor!

This is absolutely spectacular!
I love how you have used the f/g bluff of colourful rocks to anchor the f/g and create a thirds division line. The depth of this vista is just amazing. I can imagine how you felt as you took this shot.
williewhistler (16394) 2013-09-30 13:00
the gorgeously saturated colours in a classical composition have produced another stunning shot of this iconic location.
I hope you have banished the gremlins!
All the best Les.

What can I say, this was an easy choice for me this evening! :) Another outstanding photo from the Grand Canyon! I've enjoyed your pictures from the get-go, and with the memories so fresh in my mind, I took another long look at those from this incredible wonder. The clouds and stormy weather during your visit worked in your favor, creating a much more dramatic rendition of the canyon, adding atmosphere and intensity.
I'm continually impressed at how you've achieved such a strong sense of depth and distance, showing off the natural beauty that abounds in this park with such vivid color. This makes me want to get back in the car and head back up North to catch everything we missed.
Friendly wishes from PHX,
By the way, I appreciate the offer for the sunscreen. :)

I always enjoy your Grand Canyon images as they capture the wonderful colours in a way that I couldn't on film. The clouds scudding across the sky really enhance the composition well. By having the vertical column of rocks (wall) in the FG the depth and grandeur of the canyon is shown at its best. Beautiful landscape and photography.
Kind Regards, Ann

The colors are beautiful, the sharpness is perfect and the composition too!
As usual, you show us a very good picture.

The wall on the right side looks like a handmade construction. Amazing combination of so different stones here. And outstanding view of the Canyon again. Thanks for memories!
petarl (1313) 2013-11-08 23:54
I like this one as it has not many colours, just shades of blue and red, with interesting cloud patterns in the sky, but is very lively shot indeed. The wall fits very well to the photo and it looks as if nature played a game of bricklaying here. The wall also adds atmosphere of danger and drama to this photo and makes you think as photographer was in some kind of alpinist expedition tightened by the ropes over porous and chipping rocks. There are not many canyons like the very famous Grand Canyon after all. It must have been a good ascent to the heights and it certainly paid off with some stunning views and photos.
