Photographer’s Note
The pinyon pine is a common sight on the Grand Canyon's south rim. It's amazing how these trees grow in the dry, cold, high areas on the rim. The trees are twisted as a defense against water loss: the twisted trunks lose less water than if they were straight (don't ask me why - I'm not very informed about botany).
This photo was taken on the Rim Trail somewhere east of Monument Creek Vista.

Robbin,
I love your shot. One of my favorite subjects is the lonely tree. Your's in the Grand Canyhon couldn't find a better setting. I've added a workshop to pop out the colors a little. Hope you like it. Thanks.

Hi Robbin,
this tree seems to be lost in this fantastic landscape of stone and sand.
Well done,
Edi
