In conjunction with Serghei’s photo I thought I’d take you right along the river bank for a view looking down stream…unfortunately there were no chairs placed below to have a seat. :)
This is part of Saguaro Lake Ranch, which is private property. The last time I visited alone I was promptly directed off the site…I was told that the owner had finally reached a breaking point in dealing with photographers that were not respectful enough on the land or to his guests. When I explained that Serghei was visiting from such a distance as Russia, he decided to allow us about 20 minutes to go and take pictures. With a panoramic view that encompasses the Bulldog and Superstition Mountains and the wilderness made famous by the writings of Zane Grey, the Ranch is literally and figuratively a vacation oasis on the banks of the Salt River.
The late afternoon light was absolutely perfect for the setting and warm atmosphere, however, it was not the mostly friendly for the camera when trying to manage the layers of light and color…especially without a tripod!? It would have been much better of course with the morning light coming in from the other direction, but sometimes you just have to take what you can get.
This is an extremely popular river during the summer months for casually tubing the waterway and getting some refreshment from the blistering heat. I would imagine though that the guests at this private ranch are none too happy when groups of drunken fools pass by on their rafts and tubes making all sorts of noise and annoyances in an otherwise calm and relaxing atmosphere. A small price to pay I suppose for this kind of scenery. The river itself is about 200 miles (320 km) long.
Thanks for taking a look.

An impressive stretch of nature.
The river and the vegetation along its bank don't give this image a desert impression as many other pictures of Arizona.
I like the view of these rocks rising up steeply from the waterfront and the beautiful reflected colours in the river.
Best regards, Paul

I'am just a waiting for your next post, Jason,
Another interesting presentation of the nature of Arizona. Without similar pictures TEers could be think, that Arizona consists the Canyon and the cactuses only.
Thanks for this note.
Best wishes and good night!

bella la luce di questa composizione, mi piace come hai racchiuso l'acqua tra le rocce e il magnifico riflesso che colpisce l'attenzione.

Beautiful wild nature's scenery, Jason.
Rocks rise as canyon walls, along this part of the 200 miles long river, that's impressive.
Fine light brought a nice reflection on water surface.
Enjoy a nice weekend,

Le regard suit naturellement le cours d'eau dans l'image , ce qui donne une belle profondeur à la composition. J'aime le reflet vert des arbres dans le cours d'eau ainsi que la beauté de la roche rouge à l'arrière plan.

What a sight :) Natures glory showing itself so nicely, from the river reflecting the lovely greenery of the trees, all the way to the mountains beyond, which to my faraway eyes are reminded a little of Wile E Coyote territory! The light does look difficult, but you managed it really well to create this scene with superb depth, and a ncie contrast between calm river and windy peaks.
Such a shame that places such as this can be private and off limits, but of course I only say that because I am not rich enough to own such a place. I often see castles and abbeys, mansions and such in Ireland that are private property, and think that is should be law that people can at least view the outside of these places. I know of course if I owned one it would be a different matter, so I guess that opinion is a little hypocritical. Still, I'd like to get rich and fine out for sure.
It does make me wonder though, how disrespectful can photographers be? Okay, I see the point if it was kids drinking and doing drugs, and loud music and such, but surely shutterbugs cant do that much damage? Then again, seeing how many there were at the Giants causeway at sunset, and the seeming rivalry between them, perhaps it resulted in huge riverside shutterbug dance offs for the best spots and that's bound to generate noise. I never got the rivalry between photographers.
Sorry, that comment rambled off course, hahaha. Lovely shot Jason, and as ever, thanks for sharing your beautiful work.
All the best from the soggy Atlantic rock.

A beautiful shot of this enchanting place. You did really well to balance out the harsh light of the BG with the shadows of the FG. I like the vertical frame, showing off the reflections beautifully and adding depth and perspective to the image. A top shot, thanks for sharing it.
