Photographer’s Note
Its saturday, so another simple one. The Transfiguration of Our Lord Russian Orthodox Church in Ninilchik, with a glimpse of 3053m high Iliamna volcano 70km away across Cook Inlet behind the church. There is no pollution aroud here, so when it clears, one can see far and wide. For info on the church Nikolay(Kolyamour) has attached an excellent note. (still dont know how to link)
This was taken with a 50mm lens which I no longer use (it died).

Hi Tan, Very good combination of colours. The light is very well captured and used. With the church out of center, the snowed mountains in the background and the red flowers in the foreground, all makes a landscape very nice to see.
I can see some white crosses, I suppose them belongs to the cemetery, did you try to camouflage them between the vegetation?
See you!

A colourful rendering, Tan. I like how the peak of the volcano is visible to the left. As well, the fence in the right background gives additional balance. The aqua colour in the right background appears a little unnatural - perhaps oversaturated? But a fine shot of a picturesque place. Regards.

Hi Tan,
Thats interesting here, you show a nice little orthodox church as a reminder Alsaka once belonged to Russia together with a nice red carpet evocating the Soviet flag, I don't know if it was intentional but it works quite well !
Have a nice sunday,
Jean-Yves

Bonjour Tan,
Couleurs exquises, bleus, verts et rouges dans une excellente composition.
Je relève toutefois des défauts dans les bleus du ciel.
Compliments.
Daniel.

Nice shot Tan;
This would have made a lovely shot even without the bright red flora- but it definately gives it a "WOW" factor doesn't it.
The DOF on the forground compliments it as well....
Nicely done!

Great composition with bright flowers on the foreground and snowy volcano on the background. I tried to make a similar shot but the volcano wasn't seen clear enough because of the mist...
Well done.
Thanks for share.

Truly wonderful sight Tan - you got the eye for those landscape and compositions - The mix of cold white mountains and red warm colours in the foreground - the interesting little church good extra motif.

Hi Tan, that must be one of your very early posts at TE. You didn't know how to link at that time :) In the meantime such little details are not a problem anymore. It has also some educational purpose because it must also be one of your first pictures of your photography career. You used a linear polariser and the sky is far from being what you achieve nowadays with a circular polarizer.
Great learning!
Cheers, Peter
