Sunrise illuminates the snow-capped peaks of Prince of Wales Island. Wreathes of clouds garnish the peaks, and low-lying fog rises from the waters of the Inside Passage of SE Alaska on a beautiful, quiet winter's morning. This shot was taken from South Point Higgins Beach, twelve miles northwest of Ketchikan.

Hi Judy,
An atmospheric photo from SE Alaska. An original and effective composition. I like the tonalities of colours. The fog and clouds and the use of long focal length have an interesting effect giving an impression of the mountain peak to be closer than it perhaps is. TFS!

Hello Judy,

What a breath taking view around the Inside Passage, the silhouette of the islet set against the backdrop of the immense mountain peaks. I remember similar scenery in sailing up the Inside Passage on a cruise ship many years ago. I would get up at dawn to glimpse that rugged beauty. I think I am ready to take another cruise on those magical waters.

Dear Judy

Looking at your morning picture you can ask yourselves about the sense of this world, with all the suffering of many have nots. Is it is crazy, who knows? We could say that your picture shows the morning after ... it is sad and new beginning at the same time, the hope of a future. Very nice reddish hues, great sharpness and DOF. Well done
