Photographer’s Note
This is an island located within the Misty Fjords National Monument near Ketchikan, Alaska. There are only two ways to see the Fjord - boat or plane. I highly recommend chartering a float plane to fly around - most will stop somewhere with in the monument for great photo opportunities. When shooting from a plane (or anything with an engine) remember to keep shutter speeds above the vibration of the engine for sharper images.

Hello Courtenay,
Excellent art image with mystical shaped island surrounded by shades of blue.
And useful reminder to shoot in higher speeds.
Congratulations,

This is rerally amazing. I took a while to realize what it was.
I imagine this picture with a boat or something similar on the right of the frame, to return also the size of this place, which I imagine wide and wild. It would have been a real masterpiece.

Courtenay,
This peculiar feature evokes the form of a prehistoric sea creatures, caught briefly on the surface. Intriguing.

A most unique perspective on this magical little island. Your title says it all. It really does appear to be floating there in the sky.
