Photographer’s Note
Yesterday I posted another image called "Zen Landscape" from this same beach. This one certainly has a different mood, but I'm not sure if it's more dramatic, or just more cluttered. I'm hoping the good people of TE will tell me.

Hi Ken,
Good picture, can tell you love B&W! I think this one is a bit more dramatic, but also different in mood indeed. Love the POV, wich makes the lines come out great! For me, that "makes" the picture. Good contrast, well done.

In B&W this gives a very poweful shot. I like the composition and the mixing between sand and light.

I think the use of B& W really works here Ken. Given the perspective and subject of this shot, the B&W really serves to highlight the shadows and textures of this wonderful scene. Great job!

Outstanding beach shot. I like the reflection off the wavy sand, which mimics the waves of the ocean. Shooting into the light was a good diea too, because it gives this high contast and more impact, really showing off the shapes of the rocks. Good work Ken!

Hi Ken,
I like everything about this shot. The low angle, the textures, compositon and your choice of BW which created a wonderful play (and harmony) between light and shadows. Congratulations!

Again I really like this Ken, I like the reflection on the landforms, which make them look more pronounced. Excellent...

Another nice scene Ken;
I only now noticed this was taken up in Alaska, may be somewhat tacky for me to say- but I wonder if this is what it looked like during the Exon Valdez Oil Spill? Everything being black and all...
Nice post production again. Reminds me of a similar shot I took of sand ripples.
Cheers Ken!

I'm usually not a big fan of landscape. And landscape in B&W are often awfull. But you managed this one beautifully. Wow. A great exemple to follow. How did you measure light to keep that much details on the blacks ?

Hi ken
Soberb work on B&W, it's a powerful image! the reflections of the light on the wet sand and DoF created by the lines on the sand are splendid.
Bravo

Quite like this one, Ken, even though you think it's one of your overrated ones! Perhaps it's a bit metallic, slightly blue looking, or is that my monitor (using 12" laptop today!)? The grooves in the sand give the perspective.

This is a lovely photo for a good number of reasons.
I'd say part of it has to do with the extreme close-up but also the far reaching horizon that you managed to squeeze into it. Not only that but the lines on the beach all point towards the far away horizons effectively letting the eye travel along them, discovering each stone as they pass and then ending up in some far away hills imagining how many other amazing beaches like this one may be found.
I don't find it cluttered at all, rather very moody and dramatic.
The dark sand and rocks play perfectly together with the sun's reflection on the wet surfaces.
A truly wonderful shot.
