This little fellow seemed to enjoy modeling for me. People had gathered around and were commenting on his antics while I was photographing him. In this pic, he looks as though he's about to make a speech.
Artic squirrels are ususally much thinner than this guy, but he has become adept at the game of begging. Unfortunately, the fat won't do him much good. Once the tourist, who stupidly feed the animals, leave for the season. It assured that he will probaly die come winter, since he never learned to forage for himself.

Hey Ned, like the lighting here. Good use of shallow DOF (blurred background, good sharpness on the fur and the eyes). Sweet shot.

Excellent and very sharp! Well done!

Pas farouche du tout ce petit animal qui prend plaisir à poser.
Je sujet a très bien été isolé du fond grâce a une bonne maîtrise de la prise de vue au téléobjectif. Vous êtes un fameux chasseur d'images.

Pretty, that I like, they are really well, not badly the details.

I think that the DOF is prefect and the detail level of this photo is more than enough... you shold be proud of yourself!

I love those animal close ups. Going to get a camera with zoom soon (sorry I coulden't help it).
Yes the impression of hes face trying to tell something

He doesn't seem to be very wild and the way he places his paws is so expressive! I love these shots. The light is well managed with a balanced exposure. IMO, DOF is too short. If it contributes to give an adequate background, it lacks of precision on the nose. I agree 100% with you... feeding wildlife animals, except when very hard climatic conditions is stupid.

Belle photo d'un animal si craintif. Même au téléobjectif ce n'est pas si facile de réussir.

I agree with your comments about feeding the animals - I often hear people announcing '' Please do not feed the animals '' when their backs are turned sure enough the feeding starts...such a pity if only they knew the damage they are doing.
Anyway to this beautiful photograph - it is a true delight - excellent image of a very relaxed Arctic Squirrel - very cute!!!
