Photographer’s Note

Last Saturday, I went out to Lake Wateree to see if autumn had arrived yet and as I was on on my way, it completely clouded over. While I was there, though, the sun came back out and I got a few shots with a nice evening light. Our trees have yet to reach peak colors and the one framing this shot is about like a lot of them. Turning, but not quite there yet. I loved the nicely lit view through these leaves. Hope you enjoy it.

Hi Shelly, this is a very nice photo. I love how sharp the photo is. The light is so warm. It looks like a very good place to visit.

PS: Ive been not very active for this past year because I was working hard on finishing up my degree. Now, I passed my defense...yeah...and I officially become Dr. Eng now :) I am so excited after all of these years in Texas. I will try to be more active from now.

I should say a perfect composition, very well arranged and with a wonderful late afternoon atmosphere. Here too the light is so soothing and warm and the lake with its reflections seems irradiating light!
(I don't quite agree with the ws version which looses allthe fine atmosphere)

Nice idea to use the autumn foliage to frame the view to the pier and boats across the bay!
The varied light adds attraction value and adds life in the frame...

Even better than the last shot in my humble opinion. The leaves provide a frame that connects with the FG grasses providing a porthole for us to focus through. Nicely done.

Hello Shelly -

Using the shoreline foliage to frame the scene is a nice touch. The light poking through the clouds to highlight the boat and dockside buildings makes the scene IMO. It adds a focal point and depth to the scene. Well done!

I think I even prefer this one comparing it to the previous one I commented about! All the excellent qualities are here too, but what I mostly like in this one is the framing with the vegetation and the beautiful view I can have passing thru it: the calmness of the water, the colors and the sunlight!

Merveilleuse photo à saveur automnale et excellente perspective, le tout bien encadré naturellement par la végétation. Ça sent le calme et la tranquillité sur le lac avec de beaux reflets, un temps propice pour aller faire une belle ballade en bateau. Beau travail et bel avant-plan.

Charming lakeside scene.
Love the way you framed this tranquil shot between the autumn leaves.
The riffling glass surface of the lake is quite compelling as it leadds the eye gently towards the distant hills and lovely pale blue sky.
