Photographer’s Note
I am a huge fan of backlighting. This shot was taken in the same park, on the same morning as my last post. The morning sun was pouring down through the leaves and it reminded me of stained glass windows. I loved the colors and shadings the light made shining through the leaves.

Hi Shelly,
Very beautiful composition. Really, the effect of the light through the leaves is very similar to effect of the light on stained glass window. Excellent contrast of colors. I love it!
Well done

I also like backlighting a lot, and this shot is an excellent use of the technique. The combination of the red and still-green leaves, all backlit, works beautifully with the placement of the bench in a "thirds" position. A person sitting on the bench would have been nice, too.

Hi,
Well done in harsh lighting. An uncomplicated scene made into an interesting light study by the backlighting. Nice one. Thanks.
Dougie.

Hi Shelly,
A huge fan of backlightning...how nice to read that because most people hate this ;-)
I must admit that you control it very good, there is so much detail left that the whole picture despite that light still is high on impact with a very good exposure. It's not easy to make but you manage it very well. Also the composition with the colorful tree and the bench are very nice. And a minor though important detail...the tree on the left, leaving that in the frame is very clever..!!!

Hi Shelly,
Lovely capture of the morning light streaming through the thick canopy of oak leaves. The shadows on the autumn grass lends a somber tone to this quiet beauty.

Hello Shelly,
marvellous set of autumn colours. As light is so important to the trees I can see it is equally important in showing this changing colours effectively. You did it brilliantly.
These leaves are glowing like beacons in the dark bush!
Kind Regards.

This is so so nice, Shelly, and you used the backlight very well, giving something fragile to the scene suiting the mood of this fall morning. I like the little lonely bench standing there in the still green grass. Stained glass is a good comparison. This is very good, take care, Barbara.

Hi Shelly,
I never thought of it this way, but backlit leaves really do have a stained glass quality to them, now that you mention it. I think that backlighting is the most underrated form of lighting that there is and we photographers don't capture enough of this type of lighting. I am also a big fan of backlit leaves. Beautiful work with this difficult lighting and wonderful composition! A stunning photograph!
