Blanketed by the green moss, Elakala falls is a truely magnificent site in the spring. In this photograph, I tried to capture the silent motion of the bubbles as they tried to dodge the moss covered rocks. A circular polarizer was used to reduce the glare from the wet rocks and bring out the colors in the pool.
Blackwater Falls State Park in West Virigina is a fantastic place to visit and even more exciting place to photograph. Different seasons change the park in to different place. In spring and summer the moderate temprature and high humidity makes the moss bloom. In the fall, the hills are covered with brilliant colors and in the winter the occasional snow fall and below freezing temprature can create fantastic conditions to shoot waterfalls.

Jay,
I really like this photo. The long exposure has a great effect on moving water and allows for a very nice DOF. The sharpness and detail are great as is the lighting and color. I like your vertical composition here giving the photo direction.
TFS,
Asa

Excellent shot, the lines in the water help pull the eye away from the foreground rock and back through to the waterfall. Looks like a lovely place.

Regards

Ian

A wonderfully peaceful image. I like the lines on the water connecting foreground and background and at the same time giving some information of the motion. Also great how the white of the larger waterfall is balanced by the foreground rock, even the smaller waterfalls on the right add to that delicate overall balance. Great work of "non-spectacular" setting.

I really don't understand why this picture has had 107 looks and only 6 point. This is far and away one of the BEST water falls I have seen posted. You are to be complimented not passed by.

Dan

I have to agree with Dan. Should have more votes, great shot, lots of detail, colour and perfectly exposed. Good composition too. Im thinking of getting a 5d and the lens you used here. Would you reccomend it?

Gary

Hi Jay
Magnifique image, comme toutes celles de ta galerie.
Les trainées blanches sur l'eau sont un plus pour l'ensemble
Bravo !
Amicalement

Hi Jay,
What a gorgeous photo! It looks like a mossy green little peace of heaven. I like the mirror image of the falls in the stream. Very nice color and composition. TFS!
Laura

Hi Jay,

You really capture the motion in a way that we get to know where the current flows... Really nice colors and composition. The sharpness and detail are great.

Cheers,
