Photographer’s Note
How would you like to be this poor guy?? It's hot as blazes in my hometown in August and these guys stand over hot fires and grill ribs and chicken ALL DAY LONG for the duration of the Rib Festival. And they travel a circuit of Rib Competitions. I couldn't do it.
This shot is from a LONG time ago. I just happened upon all my old pictures I never look at anymore and thought I'd post this one. I mainly wanted to see if the PP I've learned would help the shots I made with a Minolta Z6 and this one doesn't seem too, too bad.

Ohh Shelly! I can feel the heat. But gosh! To be cooking those ribs, seasoned from the night before, maybe even the day before that, you have to know that to a chef, that steam and that heat, not to mention THAT succulent smell, well, it's oh so great! And it seems like mister here, with his little polystyrene box and tissues, perhaps with only chicken inside, is thinking to himself "if only I waited for the ribs!".
Of course, he may have ribs in that little box. Not a whole rack, but just a few. If so, he surely is a lucky man.. for I bet they tasted oh so good, Shelly!
Nice shot to dig out from the archives... keep 'em coming!
And if I may, I feel that the man with the box is just a little too much. I hope you don't mind my workshop.
All the best, Casper

Hi Shelly,
Now you made me hungry for ribs and chicken southern BBQ style. Like the capture of the man working over a hot grill and nice capture of the person walking in the picture foreground. Great clarity and sharpness Shelly.
Best regards
Jason.

Hello Shelly,
A long time ago, but a very effective photograph. The light is handled like a master, the smoke and black background makes the image unforgettable, and the hot weather — I don't feel that at all. Indeed, this time of year in the Washington, DC area, it would be nice to borrow about 20° from this scene.
"Warm regards," a great photo.

Hi Shelly!
Great photo of an unusual daily life scene, great double portrait. Great example of street photojournalism, nice tight framing and composition, great light managment! I think I can smell those ribs! Congratulations!

Hi Shelly
This one turned out really well. You captured the moment with all that smoke surrounding the cook. It doesn't look like it bothers him a bit.

Hi Shelly,
I can smell the delicious aroma all the way up here and could use a bit of that heat this winter.
There is a place in Oneonta, NY that enters national compitions and it is a reall treat to drive the 60 miles down there or wait for them to cater church events here.

Hi, Shelly.
Nope, it ain't bad at all! On the contrary... you just got me yearnin', and yearnin' real BAD, for one of them ole Southern, make it Nawlins' style, BBQs, with plenty beer and good Cajun & Zydeco music, y'all... Love it!
And thanks for visiting Delicate Arch, much appreciated. Have a wonderful day, see you soon. Y'all! HUGS,
Fulvio.
