Photographer’s Note
Down the block and across the street from my mom's is the Mayor's house. Now - there's nothing really remarkable about that, except... he recently made the national news by refusing TWICE a pay raise the city council tried to press him into taking.
HUNTINGTON -- A split five-to-five vote from the Huntington City Council Monday night ended discussion and consideration for the proposed ordinance increasing the mayor's salary by almost $18,000.
Mayor David Felinton, who promised to veto the ordinance if it passed, said he was happy the ordinance died because the city has other, more important priorities. Receiving such a substantial pay raise, he said, sends the wrong message to city employees facing a 2008-2009 budget year of health insurance concessions and no pay raises.
"We are facing substantial changes, and I don't believe it's the time to give a pay raise to the mayor," Felinton said. "A lot of people in Huntington are having problems (financially). I'm flattered and honored that council discussed it, but I don't think it's the right time to take a pay raise."

We need a lot MORE politicians with that kind of attitude.

The house is nice to look at and so is the picture. It is not breathtaking, but the colors are pleasing and well saturted, and there is nothing wrong with the sharpness. But what I like most about your posting Shelly is the note...Yes, I smiled a lot when I was reading it.
My regards, Shelly
John.

hi Shelly
I agree, this house looks modest for a mayor - for most mayors. A fine informative note and yes, your mayor is one of a kind and we do need more of that. Perhaps clone him?
I like your clean shot of this house with such lovely green surrounding and taking great advantage of bright light for colorful contrast.

Hi Shelly,
What is in the water cooler at the Hunnington City Counsil?
If you find out send some to to nearby Washington DC.
This is a sturdy no nonsence brick beauty that is seen framed by lush green trees and a lovely contrasting blue sky background. Sharpness and details are subperb. Great note and hats off to Mayor Felinton.
Regards, Tom

Hello Shelly,
This is a pleasant composition, where the fine light renders some great colours!
I like the angle of light, making the house appear almost like 3-D...
Fun story in the note, adding interest value to the image!
Greetings,
Pablo .
