A view to the west... Photo

Photographer’s Note

I have just returned from a two week visit home to West Virginia. This particular evening had a grand sunset and I hurried down to the park on the Ohio River. This is looking west toward the state of Ohio and it was SO calm and peaceful. I had a great time being home, it just takes me awhile to recover from the drive. Hope you are all well!!

Beautiful vast tranquility .. very nice .. the image communicates the peace you have written about .. I love the clouds .. I might consider cropping this to just above them .. I think it would give more emphasis to the sun that way and also give more emphasis to the length of the river if the image itself was more of a rectangle .. again very nice .. and wonderful to see you post.

It's breathtaking, Shelly. No wonder you wanted to photograph it, and you have done so with your usual skill. I too would be happy to lose the top part of the sky - my toolbars block it anyway while I'm writing this.
It's amusing the way the bridge outline echoes the curved string of clouds, and there's a line of cloud parallel to the edge of the water.

You have captured an interesting contrast between nature and manmade!
The gorgeous sunset stands well against the fine piece of engineering, and the bridge leads nicely into the scene...
The shimmering reflection in the river is a strong element in the composition!

Hi Shelly, This is another of your beautiful pictures. I like the contrast betwen the sky and the shadows, the use of the trees on the sides give a nice kind of frame and shown the deep.This is a great sunset landscape on a great picture. Thanks for sharing with us.

Seems to be a good moment for this photo Shelley. The setting sun adds a lot to the mood and function well in the offcentered position and as a contrast to the silhouetted bridge. Well seen and nicely captured this one.
