Photographer’s Note

My favorite thing to do in the world is surf, and I am landlocked here in Dallas, Tx but sometimes I have to remind myself that there is an ocean.

This is a shot from Virgina Beach during a longboard contest. I sat out on the beach all day just watching the contest. I got very very sunburned but it was amazing just watching others surf even if I wasn't surfing.

I liked this shot because it encapsulates a lot of the surfer's life...waiting. We wait for the right swell, we wait for the right wave, and I wait to live near the ocean.

Jolie photo. J'aime bien les planches de surf en premier plan, elles ressemblent à des animaux à l'attente aussi.

It's looks so strange in b&w:) It's almost looks like snow and water. But compo is very nice and the figure on the edge of the water seems for me chiselled from the dark wood.

cool point of view! love the high contrast! if you look at the horizon though it looks a little rotated.

Love this one too. Your decision to include those fore-ground shapes and contrast them with the beach and the men is a very good idea. Only thing that I want to bicker about is the slightly out-of-focus foreground white surfboard. I wish the dof was deep enough to make it sharper, even at the cost of getting the background figures and the sea a bit out-of-foucs.

I half agree with Animesh here but on balance i can go for it as it is - but I see what he means - i think this is a great compositional idea - it goes well with the feelings you express too - the guys in the background make this such a classy shot - a really good observationa nd well taken moment - there's a contemporary surrealist photographer whose name I can't quite get to whose work this pic reminds me of ............

verde. i'm in love with your note. it's quite poetic. and i agree with the previous two... i wish that near board was where you chose focus. actually, i might workshop this and crop it out. let me know what you think. 3.

nice shot, I like the composition very much with those small people in the background, good conversion to B&W, interesting, sunny image
