SPECKLED PAINT Shot on 3/14/2008 7:40 am
The month of March is frequently described by the old adage, “In like a lion, out like a lamb.” Dramatically different conditions can prevail — from cold and windy to warm and sunny. Just two weeks ago on March 14 I was driving to work along my usual trajectory that takes me through the historic Fredericksburg Battlefield. Through the trees I could see the sun just rising, and creating a subtle golden glow. I made a quick pit stop in order to shoot this photograph, and, just five minutes later, to shoot Sunrise Over Marye’s Heights. The coloration in this bucolic scene suggests the last throes of winter, no buds on trees yet, but a speckling of colors — red, orange, green… and that is the aspect I tried to accentuate in this photograph.

this is a very fine image giving a sense of quiet, of peace, of tranquility in the this season. Very nice use of light and shadows with warm light and colors. The play of lights you talk about is simply marvelous, special to watch as the colours changes. Joy for the mind and soul.

Hello, Bulent -
Lovely! Beautiful soft light and very nice colors. Before I read your note, I might have thought it was early fall. ("Early" because there is still greenery.) I like the lines of the trees on the left, as they lead the eye into the distance and off the edge of the frame. Risky, but it works.
PJE (20758) 2008-03-29 9:29
Bulent I really love the lighting in your wooded scene here. Excellent work finding this kind of excellent setting!

your composition is very pretty, good framed. The effect is much realistic one, it seems of being inside the forest.
I like light, colors and contrast very much.
japiey (10163) 2008-03-29 12:09
A perfect composition, with the sun being hidden, that creates the illusion of many moods in image.. turning the unreal to real.. that's the underlined magic here... EXCELLENT DRAMA with light, the master, being the hero ....
All the best,
emka (79875) 2008-03-29 13:31
Wonderful colours. Something already green, something red, yellow, a bit of sunshine. Calmness. Lovely picture.
We have in Polish: In March like in a pot. On Wednesday it was like in winter, everything was white, like in fairy tale, next day we had 13 degrees.
Have a nice weekend. Warm regards

Merhaba Bulent Bey,
Matthew-Watt (5956) 2008-03-29 17:19
I agree with Isabela, there are several seasons of foliage represented in this intriguing photo. In some ways this reminds me of a Jackson Pollock painting. It is beautiful seeing the mist filtering through the trees at the back of the photo, cross illuminated by divine rays of light. The main trunk in the left helps to break up the scene and helps with depth perception. Great work, thanks Bulent.

Good evening Bulent
Indeed March is a nice bunch of surpises. Yesterday we had the last snow of the year at the top of the mountains and at the same time we were sitting on the sea front enjoying the mild weather. Your composition is full of those beautiful colors, a pleasure to look at, with a beautiful light creating nice shadows

I like the letter-box crop giving us the feeling we are peeping into the scene. The light filtering through the trees is having a wonderful effect on the foreground colours. Well done
keribar (43841) 2008-03-30 22:40
Taken in March ? Who would believe it at first sight ? Perhaps the vegetation is more rare, but for me what make sthe picture is the light which comes from above.
I wish you a great week - Izzet

Cher ami Bulent,

Hello dear Bulent,
I see that you work with a tripod, and a lens 18-70 mm, I would try a F/18, this gives always more depth sharpness through this lovely forest.
I know that a few photographers this not glad use this type f/18, but you can always once try.
I find this image very lovely through the excellent light in background, this care for a nice picture, I can enjoy of this image.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot Bulent, the amount of detail is amazing, it is wonderful. Colors are great and the dof at 7.1 seems to work well. The fog/mist helps alot.
evanrizo (456) 2008-03-31 9:34
I look you image here and I think, yes this is what also photography can make. A capture from the all nature region there gives us a part of consciousness of its beauty that sometimes can be not seen.
It is nice colorful with small parts of the different colors and the opposite coming light gives it an interesting atmosphere.

Hello Professor "A"
A neat crop to cut off the bright sun, highlighting the specks of colour in the foliage. I especially like the mellow light filtering through the trees. I think the pano format works well here, allowing us to view the scene in the 16:9 (?) ratio. Well done!
With Warmest Regards
Cretense (68691) 2008-04-01 3:51
Beautiful nature photography, the dense vegetation and the low light conditions create a "haunted" atmosphere! Great, almost panoramic framing and beautiful colours. Congratulations, my dear friend!
asajernigan (21298) 2008-04-01 6:02
Your composition is great here. You have managed to include the colors of spring and fall in one shot. The tree filtered lighting is outstanding giving the shot a great mood.

Hello Bulent Bey,
Sorry for the late reply. I am just back from a trip to Konya.
Wondefully shor photo, with superb colors nad wonderful sharpness. The scenery is really beautiful and impressive.
Best personal regards. Salvator.
PS. The Meric bridge photo was taken in Edirne, actually this is a place where both sides of the river are in Turkey.
stego (24030) 2008-04-02 14:15
The title is very well chosen. You achieved showing what you mention in your note - a mix of winter moist with the sun of Spring and the nature beginning to sprout, the greens taking over the last remains of the oranges of winter. Very beautiful!
It must be a very pleasant way to start a work day, strolling for a while and shooting that beautiful forest.
ahmetgedikli (25482) 2008-04-03 12:06

Hello Bulent Bey,
A very plain but at the same time colorful view. The light behind is wonderful and gives the place a dreamy atmosphere.
jorgi (3810) 2008-04-04 2:03
it seems like you managed to capture all seasons colours. Light is simply stunning, golden glow illuminating naked branches and colourful leaves. Dense mixture of so many different coloured details bathing in the light of slight hazy atmosphere give excellent feeling of depth and dimension of fairy-tail like woods. Wonderful!
tober (8797) 2008-04-04 8:42
siolaw (38284) 2008-04-04 23:03

Hi Bulent, This looks like something from medieval times. Wonderful colours and good clarity. The large trunk is well placed 1/3 across from the left. TFS. Murray.
pablominto (53744) 2008-04-08 6:52
This is pure beauty!
This is the kind of motif I always look for, I have found a few locations but nothing to give me result like this so I suppose the fault is with me!
The backlight plays beautifully here, and what remains of autumn colours is a plus...
Well composed, well done all together!
nivaldo (15415) 2008-04-08 7:05
Quite an opportune "pit stop" , Bulent! A felicitous brake for capturing that nice image along the way to your work! Lucky, you!
TFS. A nice picture, my TE friend!
Um abraço, obrigado.
jwmunro (286) 2008-04-08 13:41
Hello Bulent -
Shooting into the forest can produce some interesting results especially if there is side light like this image. I find that autumn is the best time to shoot into the forest because of the different colors and stages of leaf fall. Also, the forest images reminds me of some of the great impressionist painters of the early 20th century. This is a well seen and presented image. I especially like the pseudo-panorama format of the image.
Thank you for sharing.
kdialyna (3148) 2008-04-10 2:22

Good morning my friend, I'm only browsing but couldn't resist a comment on this fine piece of art.....it's as though you've put brush to canvas to create the special soft light and wonderful colours, even the frame makes it look like a painting. It's a superb capture Bulent and another fine addition to your impressive gallery, congratulations.

The looks like an enchanted forest. You did a superb job capturing the light of the rising sun streaming through the trees. I enjoy seeing the patterns in the trees. The details in the bark of the tree in the forfront contrasting with the softness of undergrowth adds interest and beauty. Your work is excellent!
