Photographer’s Note

I really wanted to take night photos of the Arlington Memorial Bridge from below but as I was setting my tripod, two police cars arrived. I was asked to leave immediately. My activity was soliciting suspicions.

Instead I present to you a view of the bridge from atop. The Arlington Memorial Bridge is flanked on both ends with street lamps. The Lincoln Monument is centered at a distance. The Arlington Memorial Bridge is a significant element in the neoclassical urban design of the National Capital as it evolved during the first third of the 20th century. Successfully integrated with Washington's grand plan, the bridge composition enhances the monumental city as well as the riverscape. The low, neo-classical bridge is 2,163 feet long and 90 feet between balustrades, carrying a 60-foot-wide roadway and 15-foot sidewalks.

Ha ha ha, Danilo.
This is the wonder of the exposure for 4 seconds, and you got the tails of lights.
Good creativity.
I also tried an expsure of 30seconds ,sitting inside my car and focusing on the Car sterio lights.
The hand shake was quite visible in that shot.

So I derive from this shot that the cars on your left are facing you and the ones on the right going away with red back lighs.

Hi Danilo,
An interesting and somehow experimental shot... I'm surprised the police didn't tell you to move also from this spot! Good visual impact of the car lights and perspective is enhanced by the lamp posts...

This is a very nice effect from f/16 to achieved the best result on the bridge light and the moving traffic, I loved it!

oh yes my friend your tripod and your camera made your activity very suspicions to the policemen,a reality in USA. Nice the colorful lines of the passing by cars taken at the most perfect time of the day,the blue hour.I like the two lines of the lamp-posts on the bridge.Well done.

Hi Danilo. It seems the “pro” camera is a threat but cell phone cameras and P&S cameras are fine anywhere. Never mind you came home with something to show for your efforts. The effect produces by foreground'scurves (of the road and the lighthouses) which refocus towards the monument is fantastic. Our eyes are really driven towards the monument.
The colors of this blue hour are marvelous.
