Photographer’s Note

Hi all,

This shot is from Sea World in San Anotnio, where many of the birds like mandarian ducks, flamingo's etc.. are kept in an open space.

The bird in the shot was just glowing in the swampy green water. I dont know the biological name of the bird. I tried finding it with all possible keywords but ended up in vain.

Hi Ashutosh,
As my son (he is an ecologist) says this is the Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber), which is a species of ibis that inhabits tropical South America and also Trinidad and Tobago. In your picture you have manage to show the all beauty of this interesting bird. Well done!

Your bird is an Ibis. Everytime I see the title in the photo forum, it makes me laugh.

Your bird is well rendered, and the colour contrast is strong.

Hi Ashutosh,

Same great colors and the sharpness is better on this one. I also like that the main subject is facing more forward here. Might be worth trying a monopod for added stability for images like this. Your shutter speed is plenty fast enough but it still takes a steady hand. I'm not so good at it myself. Great title by the way :)
