Photographer’s Note

Today, Saturday, hanging out with my friends at Starbuck. Having fun, talking, gossiping, and taking pictures. Here is one of the photos taken during the hanging-out time at Starbuck coffee shop. I saw this woman sitting there alone with great concentration in her reading with a cup of coffee to help her concentrate. I do not usually do b/w, but I am happy to give it a try. I hope you like it.

Hello Sothy,

A scene we take for granted, but one that you've made special. Never again will I look at someone absorbed in a book, while sipping a cup of Sumatra (my favorite). Nicely composed and exposed. How are your studies these days. You must spend a great deal of time contemplating one theory or another, while imbibing endless cups of coffee to stay awake. Best regards,

Hi Sothy - b/w works very well here, ideal for this type of shot. It's a shame we can't see at least one eye - and there's something blurred intruding in the front left - but it's still a styish shot...well done!

What a coincidence I just came back from Starbucks a few minutes ago. In fact I'm drinking a latte as I right this.

you've captured the moment really well here. but that thing in the right corner is annoying me no end. i know if you cropped it out, you'd lose a lot of the scene but that's just me. it keeps drawing me away from the woman... without it though, the overall composition would be great. well done

Sothy - great candid shot, executed perfectly. Wonderful tonality and handling of light - which won't have been easy. B&W is a good choice as colour temperatures would have been all over the place with mixed lighting. Well done. Paul.

really wonderful simple scene (in appearance) ... you have really captured here intensity in such a relaxed setting .. I find myself focusing on her .. ignoring all the clutter .. which is a wonderful parallel to her own thoughts.
