Photographer’s Note
This is a photo I took while visiting Graceland in Memphis. It is the place where Martin Luther King Jr. was gunned down on April 14, 1968 at the Lorrain Motel.
This photo as you see it here is exactly as you would have viewed it in 1968. You can also tour the inside of the motel in the actual room that he stayed in the night before he was assassinated. He was shot on the balcony where the memorial is placed. Next to the motel is the National Civil Rights Museum, where they honour his memory as a leader and civil rights activist.
Martin Luther is probably most famous for his speech on the 1963 March on Washington, titled "I have a dream".
Thanks for looking,
Tosca

Real interesting way remember it and him, this is one of the thing I really like of TE, we can see what others see and want to show.
Best regards Tusca.

Hi Tosca
Surprising how this photo has not gained more attention of yet - since Mr King has had such historical significance and importance in todays society.
I like how the vehicles are the same as they were back in the 60's.
Have an awsome day Tosca

Hi Tosca
Good DOF and nicely exposed. It's quite historically significant for such a plain jane motel. It does look very sixties especially with the old cars.

Bonjour Tosca
photo souvenir de l'endroit ou un grand de ce monde est mort pour une cause qui encore aujourd'hui fait couler beaucoup d'encre.

What a great statement, Tosca. Martin Luther King: such a great influence on the culture of the United States staying in this sleezy place. Some things never change, and it's a tribute to his life. Thanks, Judy

Hello Tosca
Perhaps a pretty mundane photo until you read the story. Thus a very good contribution to Trekearth where the aim is to 'learn about the world through photography'. It seems the whole motel complex including the cars is a museum? Tfs, Marlene

Hi Tosca,
Now this is a very nice composition. Clean, clear and sharp presentation. You have selected the classic POV which reminds us all of the newsreel footage all those years ago. Why don't you post in WS a B&W - might be interesting. That speech by Dr Martin Luther King is incredible. You have selected a great subject which is keeping the dream alive.
Kind regards,
Graham.
