Tribute to Koko Photo

Photographer’s Note

I heard yesterday that Koko Taylor had passed away. She was definitely the Queen of the Blues, a true pioneer in Chicago blues and emulated by female blues singers the world over. She had plenty of hits that are covered by practically every blues band, many rock bands and several popular performers. Her signature song was "Wang Dang Doodle", written by Willie Dixon in 1962. She could really wail the blues.

So, this tribute is not just for Koko Taylor. It is for all women of the blues. They are a bawdy, yet talented, group of entertainers!

This photograph is from our Memphis in May trip last month, this is Ms. Zeno - a mainstay on Beale Street. She sang a couple of Koko's songs while we were there. Ms. Zeno was sort of hamming it up for me, she normally holds the microphone in her hand. I'm not sure what holds those up, though!

So here's to you, all you women of the blues, and my condolences go out to the family of Koko Taylor.

Have a Wang Dang Doodle this weekend, if you know what I mean...

You know what catches my eye in woman's body? Legs of course, lips and teeth...

Hi Reed, can I tell you (in descending order) what struck me about this great photo? :) 1. My Gawd what a big beautiful voluptous woman 2. My Gawd what a big beautiful set of boobies, 3. My Gawd look at where the microphone is - how funny! and most importantly 4. What a superbly captured portrait, the cropping is excellent, the clarity amazing, the light makes her glow and the DOF is enviable. Well done mate you've nailed it here, Lisa.

Un bel hommage à cette chanteuse disparue avec cette photo étonnante. Avec cette façon de "tenir" le micro,elle a les mains libres -). Par contre, je trouve que ton lissage est trop important ici.

Wonderful result by flirting with camera, and you. Fun shot with good framing. I bet she's never had that button closed...
Did you go too far with noise reduction, this seems to have sort of plastic texture?
