Photographer’s Note
Sorry it has taken me so long to get back - summertime is really busy!
Of course, this is from Memphis in May, the Beale St. Music Festival.
We woke up early that Saturday, the second day of the Music Festival, to pouring rain. It drizzled off and on until it was time to go to the festival - luckily there was a tent for the Blues! No hog wallerin' for us, except if you wanted to use one of those porta-potties along the muddy walkway... I just avoided that like the plague for hours, my wife actually took the street car back to the hotel!
This guy was the first blues act of the day - Shane Dwight, a little-known guitar slinger from Nashville, Tennessee. He was smokin' hot, he just wailed on that guitar and set the stage for the next four acts. I'll get to them over the course of the next weeks!
Shane Dwight showed thet passion he had for the Blues, you can see how hard he was working and how fast he was playing - sweat is reflecting the stage lights off his face, his fingers are blurred from moving them along the fret board.
Yep, the second day of this festival I was able to bring in my D300. The security guy at the gate was looking for weapons of mass destruction and missed my camera - totally opposite from the day before when he confiscated my half-full water bottle (he mistook it for a professional camera or perhaps a missile launcher, I guess).
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that today is Memorial Day in the United States. Here in St. Louis it is aptly a rainy, dreary day, perfect for reflecting on the lives of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. It is not as good for the other main thing we do on Memorial Day - barbecue! But, we'll do it anyway - I'll try to cook up a 21 rib salute!

Hi Reed,
A beautiful studio shot of this guitarist with fantastic lighting!
I like the blue cast which is giving a cool atmosphere.
A very sharp portrait with an attentive expression to the singing.
A neat presentation in a suitable frame.

Reed
En pleine action! On croit entendre le son du blues! J'aime l'attitude, la composition et les couleurs de l'ensemble. Le bluesman est parfaitement cadré dans ce format carré. Beau travail!
Amicalement

Ah Reed, we missed you! Another great portrait - I can hear the beat, feel the heat of the room and can smell the sweat. (ooh difficult to imagine I'm talking about a Blues concert here ;) Anyways, the sharpness of this shot is amazing, I can even see the sweat on the guitarist's neck! Having been to a concert on the weekend with my little point & shoot (with disastrous results) I really appreciate how difficult this shot is and how well you have done. Congratulations, Lisa.

Hi Reed!
This is a great shot taken at the concert. You managed the bad lightconditions very well and I like the tight framing.Good composition with his left hand in motion and the tower with blue lights in the background.I like too the expression at his face, that`s blues.
