Photographer’s Note

This picture was taken on the side of Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. On this spot in a November 1863 the battle above the clouds took place between the North (Union) and the South (confederate) troops. If you would have been standing near these rocks you would probably have 100 holes in you. Fighting was fierce. The Union troops pushed the confederates around the front of the mountain. The Union won this battle and eventually won the Civil War.
