My 400th Post - Light and color Photo

Photographer’s Note

In June I will have been on Trekearth three years. With all the help, advice, critiques and workshops, I feel I have learned a lot. My favorite thing still about photography is the light. This was late afternoon and he was standing in front of the row of booths that vendors rent and they were very dark. I loved the contrast of his bright clothing and the dark BG. He just seemed to be patiently waiting for someone and standing in the warmth of the sun.

Thanks to all of you who've been so kind and offered me the help of your knowledge and your encouragement. It has truly been a huge help.

This photo is of good definition and colours even if it seems a bit staged. Well done.

Looks like spring has sprung in your neck of the woods was in the low 20s here with a nice 20 mph breeze.
Wounderfully clear natural colors and a very nochalant expression on your subject's face.

Hi Shellly.
Congratulations on reaching your 400 milestone.
You have done it in style, although I wouldn't rate this amongst your best. I do like the blackness as the background, and there is a pleasing gentle light which you have captured well. I think the photo would be a little more interesting if the fellow were looking this way just a little or if his eye were not partly shaded by the hat. But there's no doubting the quality of the exposure.
Continue on to 800!

Congrats on your 400th. The BG is perfect for showing the colours of his shirt. Also you left the full length of his arms in and did not chop the image at his wrists or elbows. Well done indeed.

congratulations on your 400th! Like you I like the black BG which is REALLY black. The light on his clothing not only picks out the colours but emphasis the black to, to match the BG.

Excellent, portrait, relaxed and "natural", great tight framing, simple but effective composition! Excellent light managment, I like very much the black background that brings out better your "model". Congratulations!
