[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Part 10 of a (now) 11 part series on slacklining on library lawn at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

i haven't been around for a while... last semester ended up being pretty intense... adjusting to a new school, hanging out in the hospital with a friend who contracted an unidentified virus in India (who fully recovered), and preparing for an upcoming trip to Peru. But i may start slowly phasing myself back in...

For those who missed the first section of my series, slacklining is a recreational activity that has grown popular on many college campuses that involves talking or doing tricks on a length of one-inch wide webbing that is pulled fairly tight.

Here a student at Oklahoma State University passes a February afternoon on a slackline set up on Library Lawn at OSU.

The actual moment pictured isn't particularly exceptional or noteworthy in and of itself in my opinion, however i wanted to use the strong backlighting provided by the afternoon sun to generate powerful shadows and silhouettes in order to emphasize the boldness of engaging in the tenuous act of slacklining.

i had originally planned to go 13 pictures long with this series, but i feel like i can cull a few out so as to avoid being redundant and get to some of my other recent pictures. Slacklining actually contributed to my absence from TE, as i spent a fair amount of time on my own slackline that i purchased in early October, leaving me a little bit less time to critique.

Hey Sam,
I was wondering when you were gonna continue with your slacklining photo series. To me, this one is a foundational piece in your 13 part series. The guy gets up balances out, while you take the sunny side and get his huge shadow across the fore.
Love this photo, it really does stand out amongst the rest. Can't wait to see the finale.

Hi Sam,

I normally really detest tilted horizons, but here it works! With the shadow in a diagonal, going to the corner of your composition , I fully understand why you have choosen this tilted compo. Nice series!
